After playing on UK-Dedicated today on Hyperlobby I had a look at my stats page at
Battle-Fields.com (http://195.149.21.215/playerdetails/612.html)
My cumulative hours of play are so far 3.2.
The stats generally make sense but one thing I don't understand is the percentage of bullets fired that hit their target and those that don't (hit air).
My stats say I've fired 13204 bullets, with 1312 hitting the target and 1219 hitting air.
Hit % = 9.9
Hit air % = 9.2.
So what happened to the other 10673 bullets? Where did they go?

The only thing I can think of is that the stats treat bullets as a converging pair. One bullet might hit the target and the other one of that pair hits air? If that's the case why aren't all bullets that miss regarded as hitting air?

Anybody have an answer to my noobish question?

Thnx

I might be misunderstanding what your saying here mate but Hit air bullets mean targets in the air that you hit not misses if you do a <gunstat command on the server that is running that script you will get an output that shows hit air and hit ground

Hope clears it up for you some ?

Oh prolly should mention you type that command in the chat box in game

Oh, when it said 'hit air' I took the meaning literally, as in your bullets hit nothing but air!
This is still a strange reading though if it means airborne targets and ground based targets. On the UK-Dedicated server the bases are pretty far apart. By the time I get to any active dogfighting I would be around the 3000feet mark and all bullets are expended at altitude (well most of them).
If you click the link on my first post to look at my stats page, I have as yet (at time of posting) hit no ground targets. I never even aimed at any. The only targets I aimed at were all airborne a/c.
The percentage of those shots that 'hit' and those that 'hit air' are roughly 50/50 on the stats page which made me think of the convergeance thing.

Sorry if I'm being stupid but I think I'm missing something.

Thanks for that <gunstat tip, I will try it later if the server is running.

No problem the stats Are pretty quirkey and do produce some strange results. I am not sure what version of stats they are using but a New project is on the way so I guess the solution is stay tuned.....S!

You were right in the first instance tHeBaLrOgRoCkS

Now that I think about it I did do a couple of strafing passes over the enemy bases and I know some of my shots did connect with targets although I didn't destroy them. They still count as hits nonetheless.
According to my stats then, the percentage difference between 'hit' and 'hit air' is .7%

Of all my bullets that connected with a target .7% sounds about right for what I must have hit on the ground.

Thnx tHeBaLrOgRoCkS...
You got through to this dimwit (eventually) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Hi,

We have had a chinwag about this issue on the Battle Fields forum (you'll find it from the same page that accesses the flying stats).

Take a peek over there and you are most welcome to contribute http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Cheers,
Norris
