... and have to say that the Revelation demo completely blew me away.

I should say that at the time I got on the freeway to drive to LA, I was to some extent a skeptic -- love the Myst series, but generally have preferred full 3D like we have in Uru -- wouldn't have thought that you could have the liveliness of environments and interactive qualities of full 3D in a prerendered game -- but I was wrong.

This game pushes the technology way beyond anything we've seen (and WAY beyond anything else at the show -- I did NOT spend all my time at the Ubi booth)! Don't know how they work the magic, but there is nothing static or flat about those environments -- they move, they pulsate, they glow, they hum, they breathe -- and you're there, making all that stuff happen.

Can't say TOO much -- but -- wow.

Wow! Thank you, Sri.

Now, if I ask you for some more info http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif in the coming months, just kill me, please.

I am not surprised by this at all. Ubisoft's Montreal studios have been putting out some excelent games in the last year or so (Prince of Persia, and the Splinter Cell series for startes). Each one seems to push the technology envelope a little bit more. I was really pleased when I found out that they were the ones making M4.

How long till September http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Thanks for the info, Sri.

As an Avid, I always get concerned when the technology is billed as "new" and/or "improved". I always worry that I'll be disappointed; it won't be as immersive and 'living' as the original.

Won't be exactly the same experience, MT, but all the changes make it more living and more immersive, not less.

Since I was Sri's partner in crime at E3 ... I can confer what she has said. M4 is absolutely amazing. Total immersion and interactive and you will be asking the same question ... how can this only be a 2d environment ... it looks total 3d ... M4 floored me and I can't wait to play it more and in full. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Perhaps the ending has not yet been written!

Wow...

Looking at the blog, I realize how much I wished I was at E3 this year. Curses, I live in Missouri, of all places.

Well, once I get rich, I can fly myself out there and join the fray.

But, in the meantime, I'll keep my seat in the seat and wait for September. Hopefully August, if they release a playable demo. Or sooner, if they release more gameplay videos.

One thing's for sure, though. I'm buying this beast the SECOND it comes out, lemme tell ya. Great job, Ubi, on everything we've seen so far.

Srikandi and Wolfie, you were such a great presence there for the Myst IV team!! It's fun to meet gamers and Media but really, Myst is and always has been about the AVIDs. I was so glad you were there, and that the Team could meet you!

I'm also glad you got to meet a few special Myst people as well.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

You guys made me feel more at home than I had before you arrived, thanks for that, too! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

(((((((((((((((Wolfie & Sri)))))))))))))))

I hope we can make this an annual event!

((Waves to Srikandi and CA GrayWolf))

Glad you made it safely back from the show! It was great meeting both of you there. I think I was the one demoing when you first arrived at the booth (??? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif rolls her eyes backward in time, trying to make sense of the twisting blurr of memories from those crazy, exhausting, over-stimulating three days!) and yes, I remember how gratifying AND amusing it was watching Wolfie's mouth drop to the floor as he saw the first few seconds of the demo...
http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

You know, you work on projects like this in such secrecy for so long, constantly worrying about whether or not the final product will match the images and plans you have in your head...More importantly, worrying whether those plans and images will REALLY be accepted by the people who matter the most: the fans who so love this game and who have such high hopes and expectations for it... So when you finally get to SEE the reactions to your work by the very people who matter the most... Thank you thank you thank you! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

(Now, if only I could see everyone else's reactions when the game finally comes out!)... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

((Waves back))

Don't worry, Mary, I think you can just extrapolate from Wolfie's and my expressions to everybody else -- there aren't going to be any jaws left attached! It will be a great week for facial reconstruction surgery!

{{{{{{{{ Kha'tie }}}}}}))}} -- thanks so much for making it possible -- hope your feet feel better!

I am just soooo jealous of you and Wolfie....*goes to a corner and pouts*

But seriously, I'm glad you two got a first-hand view of whats to come for the rest of us. Thanks for keeping us on the edge of our seats eagerly awaiting the release http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Wow, Srikandi! Not sure if you (or Katie) realize this, but that man to whom Katie is demoing the game is none other than "Hoser," a former Presto Studios artist and one of the key 3D modelers on Exile!

All the more reason why I hide from these goodies. I'll have this much more to look forward to.

This is not Uru beta, and I can see how many have been addicted by it. Be the first. Wow the others. That's not what I originally got into Myst games for.

That was a freebie side-blurb. I enjoyed it. I loved it. It was like no other. But for a true Myst game, knowing ahead is self-defeating.

oh, i don't know, Corona; for me, knowing ahead heightens the anticipation, spurs me to new lengths, makes me WANT IT EVEN MORE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whooops, sorry for shouting. hope i didn't scare anybody. i'll make an amendment: as long as it's not a *solution*, i love all these glimpses!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Enjoy the feeling of anticipation while it lasts. Once we've all played the game, the buzz will sorta fade away. I remember that is what happened after Exile came out, although there was still so much to look forward to back then as well. So I'm quite content waiting. Even if I go mad... tis a happy kind of madness.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah -- Wolf and I were trying to figure out a way how to sneak it into our pants, but it was a bit too big http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

VERY nice print on art paper -- I'd be proud to hang it in my living room.

Yes ... believe you me ... if I could have found a way to acquire the Haven print ... I would have. I even stood there at the E3 booth when the convention closed trying to get parts of the booth ... specifically the monkey and dino guys ... but alas I was not allowed ... nothing worse than a begging wolf I'd imagine. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif
