Definately get Forgotten Battles. Not many people fly the original Il2 Sturmovik anymore.

You'll need a decent joystick. I've a Thrustmaster Top Gun Fox 2 Pro SHOCK. You'll be well off with a Thrustmaster or CH stick. There are other manufacturers like Saitek and Logitech, but I don't own any of their sticks, so I can't say much about them. Be sure to get a USB joystick so that later on, you can add other stuff if you like the sim enough. Gameport joysticks have conflicts with USB devices.

As far as squadrons go, definately join one, it's a whole new experience. Try my squadron - 3./Jg51. You can get more info at www.jg51.com (http://www.jg51.com)

If you get FB, never return to here. And if you do get it, and dont like it return it, dont whine here.

Whatever stick you get make sure it's a force feedback, very important to have the feel of the aircraft to be able to fly it. Logitech are not bad, mine's over a year old and still works fine, extreme 3D.
If you have the cash go for rudder pedals , CH series go for about 150 bucks, well worth it .

Welcome! Try and X45, they are cheap and have more buttons and knobs than you can shake a stick at.

Best of both is a RH throttle quadrant paired with a sidewinderFFB2

Hello mate and welcome aboard!

You are to be so screwed if your into the online racing stuff I'm sure your an addict. This will absolutley be no good for you. Having 2 addictions. LOL

Defenatly get FB as mentioned.

Get a joystick I recommend Saitek X-45 http://store4.yimg.com/I/saitekusa_1736_0
It has lasted longer than any other that I have owned. If money is no option then get your stick and stuf from CH products http://www.chproducts.com/retail/usb_home.html

I have the CH rudder pedals combined with my X-45 it works well together, and alot cheaper route to take over the complete CH setup.

As far as forcefeedback goes its very cool. But I have yet to own a stick that last with it. You get a aircraft that shoots 1000's of rounds a minute it tends to wear on them fairly quick. I've heard there is a way to make the guns non FFB in a config file but I haven't fooled with it since learning about it I have no FFB stick anymore.

As I said before welcome aboard.

The X45 stick is great... you can get a refurbed one here.... http://store.yahoo.com/saitekusa/recprod.html. I would also recomend you get a MSFFB2. FB supports multiple sticks very well and you can get a new MSFFB2 from Best Buy for $59 with no rebate. The X45 is the best HOTAS you will find for the money and for $39 it is almost like stealing. Both are great sticks. You will love this sim....welcome aboard.... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
