FB just isn't 'doing it' for me anymore. Something is missing.

I think i'm going to pick up a copy of FS2004 tonight.

If you are bored with a great combat flight sim, how is a civilian flight sim going to be any less boring? I gave up on civ flight sims a long time ago. I just can't sit at my computer staring at terrain going by for hours on end with no action.

Maybe a modern combat sim like LO-MAC would be more interesting than FS2004.

Will be a good purchase. Enjoy.

I have been flying the MS Flight Simulator series since 1995 and I still fly it regularly with FS 2004. FS2004 is awesome for a general aviation sim especially with the new ATC and improved weather. I like to fly cargo routes with my YS-11. But after I started flying IL-2 I now instinctively find myself trying to bounce Cessna 172's! You will definitely be back! It is fun to take a break every now and again but like Fennec_P said you can't go without guns forever. I fly IL-2 more than FS now.

A speck of dirt on your windscreen could turn into an enemy fighter in the time it took to look round and back again. A little smear on your goggles might hide the plane that was coming in to kill you.

i had the same feeling some time ago and i bought Fs2004 to fill the gap but to no avail
i was back playing FB in just 2 weeks

so you will be back just like the rest of us
there is simply IMHO no replacement for FB
altough fs2004 is a great sim and there is tons of stuff out there to make the sim so enjoyable but you just cant bomb/shoot anything so you will be bored quick! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif

I always lay off for a week or so. I purchased FS2004 a while back and I think its a pleasant diversion, worth the money, but I need to download different a/c to keep my interest. At first I also found myself pulling the trigger...at anything. For the most part you'll be alone in the sky. The graphics are nice, they generate better than FB and my graphics card can OC higher with it. At some distance a whole city will be in view and complete. And the sim is very user friendly.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Baldie Mate. Don't go and replace FB with another flightsim, I guarantee - you will get disappointed. I suggest you get another type of game, like Call of Duty, or why not Simpson Hit an Run... it cracked me up http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif!!!
Take a break from flight sims altogether for a while, that will do the trick.

Hope to see you soon on Virtual pilots 2, have had some great fun there the past 3 days, but I prey we get the dedicated server soon, those hickups when many people on the same server take some fun out of it...

FS2004 is great for the "real world /deal with too much in cockpit crap".. its a GREAT sim.

i really liked it because its a fresh ALTERNATIVE to FB. i took off from airports around houston, tracked my way back to my place via landmarks. for learning the real deal , its the way to go. but if you think olegs aircraft are undermodeled in the damage dept.... youll be in for a nasty surprise with FS2004 (with good reason of course)

which reminds me, i take it military add-ons are just that. no missiles or guns, right? usable i mean.

Why not? You can enjoy the scenery, and no one is hunting for your scalp. BTW, do they have online opportunities, like you have to wake up when you arrive at your destination and avoid hitting other planes in the pattern?

Just joking. I've always liked MS's standard flight sims. I'm tempted by the DC-3 and the Jenny. Let us know how you like the FM's.

Really, he just needs to get away from YOU freaks for awhile.

Take as much time as you need Baldie. Forget all about FM's and DM's and server settings. Go play local with some arcade settings for awhile. Remember the old days! - when you were just a pup n stuff. Play with yourself!

When you get done, you will be fully able to deal with all the horse**** here, and be a better pilot to boot! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

You will 0wn all!!
