View Full Version : A bad taste........

I'm not the greatest pilot, but I do love online dogfighting....but I had a couple of experiences over the last week which left a bad taste.

On one well-known server a pilot in the red team spent all his time shooting down the other red team members (including me!). Most of them saw him, of course, but thought he was an ally.

On another well-known server, I was in my spit watching a furball far below. A P51 and a 109 were in a turn fight, and sometimes the P51 was chasing and firing, and sometimes the 109 got on the P51's six. Evennetually, the P51 chased the 109 down to low level for a while, then broke off the chase and circled away. The 109 wasn't damaged as far as I could tell, but it looked like the P51 was low on ammo or fuel maybe. So in an effort to help my team, I dived on the 109 and nailed him in one pass. The next thing I know, my elevators are shredded by a plane on my six - and it's the P51! As I hit the parachute, I texted "Whose side are you on?" and someone else close by replied "You stole his kill so he punished you".

I guess I should have just shrugged it off, but the immaturity of the whole thing annoyed me.....

Happened to me also last week. A zero was shooting at a p51 and then broke off. I nipped in there and killed the '51. The next thing I knew the other zero shot at me. I managed to out manouvre him get on his six and scare him into the ground without firing a shot lol.

It happens....just be glad the guy who shot you would have done the same for you if someone stole your kill http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Too bad more people don't use joint coms as this would clear up many things.

There are times I feel someone has muscled in on one of my kills to find he was only trying to help. Teamwork is good...kill-stealing is bad.

I know Warclouds has a dedicated TS server for pilots flying on there...One of our squaddys (Crooked_Bird) has set one up for greatergreen as well. (See here: http://greatergreen.com/scripts/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?s=68322103937dcffde2e7672fac74270b;a ct=ST;f=19;t=3978 for the info)

If you stop by I STRONGLY encourage you to give it a try. The coordination improves dramatically and the immersion increases exponentially.

There's always gonna be point-***** type knuckleheads out there who are more concerned over their "kills" than anything else. Don't let 'em get to ya (plus you can look forward to school starting again, that should lower the instances of such behaviour http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif).

I can't tell you how many times I've been in servers where I've heavily damaged bandits and left them for others to clean up the scraps. Yet if in those same rooms I pop sombody who's smoking and get credit for a kill some of the same ninnies who fed off my scraps would give me cr@9 about it. Like I said point *****s http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif don't let 'em get to you.

What you can do too is crash you plane, so the guy who shot at you will get -400.....Also you can try some COOP where teamwork is at first....

One method should be setting deathkick at one death and TK at -400.

That should promote teamwork, break up the everlasting furballing and promote tactics.

Score *****s dwelling at edges of dogfights looking for easy prey wouldn‚¬īt have as much of hunting grounds.

The punishment for for score whoring and tk should be:

Heads-on firing was not a safe practice after all ?
Jussi Huotari: It was not specially recommended‚.....
And later, as the Russians were armed with 20mm cannons, it was unwise to meet them heads-on

Ummmm,

There are some messed up people lol.

Just shake it off slarsson...as they would say inside.

I have a rule that i stick by. If a plane breaks off from the opponants six, then it's ok to dive down for a shot. It's not realy his kill anyway if he brakes off right?

However, two planes may be engaged in a fight, but they might only be energy fighting instead of dog-fighting. This is very hard to tell if it's almost FR, just about impossible.

The Alies used Team work to win. There was little turn fighting; mostly hit and run. The guy in the P-51 should have thanked you or mayby he should have said "good kill Slarsson".

You know, i had a point wen i started typing, but now i have no clue.

"The only way to end war is to kill all the soldiers...."

-Quote from a mad colonel in "Army Men" if anyone remembers that hilarious game.

Just shake it off. He was probably mad because his puny Pony didn't function as well as it did under the real pilots hands. Let him go do a donkey or something.

I don't do dogfights much, and if I do only with people I know really well. Most of the time we're pretty fair and don't team kill unless we want an all out furball where everyone agrees it should be a FFA. We also all use comms so nobody's left out on the fun.

Shrug it off, and next time grab a 75mm howitzer and shove it up his a$$.

Yes... exactly.

Online on most DF servers there are RED vs. BLUE fight. There is no "me against him" stuff or whatever, 'cause that lead in defeat. Without team fighting u have nothing.

Numerous times I hit enemy A/C in BnZ fighter(fighter, bomber whatever) and the other guys from my team saw this and they close in and finish him off. I never said any bad word to them.

Also if one want fat score online one should take Ki84, La7, Spit or Yak3P --- all of them almost straight TnB fighters...

What happened to me on IBU_Server is that I took off in Fw190 with nav.lights on indicating nearby enemy fighters involved in TnB fight with the friendly Ki's and Bf109's that I'm taking off, and yet I was instantly jumped by two La's and get promptly shot down (well actually not before I also WARNED them via chat that I'm taking off). In briefing it is strictly forbidden to attack A/C that are taking off or landing...(if that is neccesary to be written in briefing then... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif)

Shooting at friendly? That guy must have intelligence IQ level same as the temperature in his gaming room...

What I really wanna see is that -low level on grey cells- guys are immmediatelly kicked from server. And also forbid them entrance on that server (at least with that nickname).

IMHO if after an attack a bandit is stil flying, not smoking black or in flames then it's ok for anyone else nearby to go in and shoot.

If whoever was fighting the bandit have abandoned the fray, they should not complain: they didn't manage to shoot him down and now it should be considered fair game for any allied planes nearby.

Not your fault if they cannot shoot... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif

Don't pay attention to those idiots . If it is an opponant and your on the six.... kill the enemy. All this **** that people have read about this pilots honor or that pilot is bs and was written to promote an image to the public. There is no honor in death.........

That is one of the major reasons why I stay away from DF servbers..... Ivans is nice... the 54th usually runs a decent one too if my memory serves me correctly. I like team work and it is just hard to get it consistently in DF servers.. especially without comms. I think coops are the way to go.

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

reminds me of a recent stint I had on the sword/sorcery Never winter nights online...

I was delving alone in a Dungeon when I came across a dwarf fighting several skeletons. I ran into the fray and helped the dwarf finish off the skeletons.

"Don`t do that again," he typed.

Me: "Well, I was just helping you out". I replied, surprised.

Dwarf: "You stole my kills. Do it again and I`ll kill you!"

Me: "well there`s no need to get so rude about it. I thought we`re all in this together."

Dwarf: "If you don`t watch yaself I`ll kill you too!"

(I was only 1st level and checked his rating - He was Impossible for me to even begin to take on). But I still couldn`t resist one more retort:

Me: Well excuse me for breathing!

The Dwarf killed me with one chop! I was left there for dead...

Weird how people can be so ungrateful, even if they didn`t really need your help. Pity that it exists in IL2. It`s usually a sign of stupid kids who get their kicks in virtually reality, because they`re less than nothing in REAL reality.

Thank GOODNESS for offline play. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
