View Full Version : Flaps Damage Modeling?

I was just wondering: as I have been thinking that this addition would give the game yet more depth... is there any chance that this will be modeled in PF? I would really like to see complex damage modeling that would include variations of flap damage (holes, cables cut, flap knocked off completely) that could make things more interesting.

How long have you been flying this sim? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif
All that you mentioned is in here. I even had one flap go down and not the other causing me to spin out trying to land.

I've been flying for about 3 years.

I may just not notice it when it happens (becuase my wing would likely be consequentially torn apart), but I don't distincly remember having flaps jammed due to gunfire... or having a flap shot off. If you can show me a track or a picture of an a/c w/ damaged flaps I'd appreciate it. I may just be totally oblivious to it. As it is, I rarely see the damage I do to my opponents (via BnZ), so I wouldn't know in that respect.

Um, Hero has done a few laps in IL2, be sure.

Bearcat has confused ailerons with flaps.

True. I think I've only damaged my flaps when I have forgot to rise them while diving. But nevertheless I've noticed I can't lower them sometimes when RTBing heavily damaged.

I just wish they were effectively and complexly modeled, it'd be nice to give us another dimension of damage. Just think how tremendously harder it would be if you had ONE flap shot off and you didn't know it?!

I think programming for damage object was good designed and can support your requirement but virtual damage may be effect additional work

so "cut control cable..." are solution...http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

in BOB, I think we will see that.

I really hope so =). I imagine that PF will be very VERY similar to FB as far as DM's go, so that's why I was asking, because if it IS possible, if they could add it in before PF hits the shelves, it would make the game that much better.

Add that, and the effects I mentioned in another post about the .50 tracers (red mostly, then white when you're nearly out), and it'd make the game more of a SIM, and be a welcomed change.
