I have AEP and I'm considering buying BoE.

I've read about BoE and I like the new features in the dynamics campaign generator, especially the ground battles on the front. This was something I liked very much in the original IL2 and was missing in FB.

After installing BoE do those DCG features also work in the campaigns from AEP or just in the western campaigns supplied by BoE?

Is there much more variation in the type of mission generated in DCG in BoE?

The gernerator works with P-51's and 47's only on the ETO. I would wait for them to patch it up to use all of the planes.

I am waiting on that before I buy it.

I have BOE and it does have more variations of missions compared to the Eastern Front. Also, briefings are much more complex and sort of `user-friendly` compared to the terse briefings of usual. One briefing said something about the Axis giving our boys much grief on the ground and it was time to go and make them `Extra-crispy` today- that made me chuckle!

As already said it ONLY caters for American P-51s and P-47s at the moment. I like flying the P-51s, and it really brings back those EAW days when over that West European landscape. Runways look markedly different too. But my heart really yearns for the good old Spitfire, Hurricanes and Tempests, etc. So I too wait eagerly for that patch...

Edit: Of course you can fly as Axis.

I have it and if your an offline player its an essential to get the most out of AEP with out having to use a third party generator.

Plus it will be patched to make it even better.

My only words are buy it.

Well...not exactly. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I added the P-38 and the Spitfire the first day I had it. The Spitfire can't carry AG ordnance yet and that will be a great add on, but the Lightning is a gas to fly in a campaign.

All you have to do is add the planes you want to fly to the PlanesUS.dat file and the PlanesUSJ.dat file. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I am very pleased with it and would recommend you get it.

The syntax for the Spits looks like this;

SPITFIRE5B
SPITFIRE5BCLP
SPITFIRE5BLF
SPITFIRE5BLFCLP

It took me about an hour to figure it out. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Bird brain - thanks, fantastic information
Could I ask a huge favour for all people like me who hate mucking round with config files + the like (i.e. lazy).

Could you post up a pre-edited .dat file so we can just replace the existing one & fly these great aircraft in the BOE campaigns. Without the ability to fly campaigns with the new aircraft, AEP and BOE are, well, a bit dull really.

cheers,

rp

I don't think there is another place, especially in the States. The only place I have been able to find is www.justflight.com (http://www.justflight.com)
