Tully,
I know that you are using Dhzmm. drivers for yer X-45. I wonder if you know an install guide for these. Also what software do you use to program these? I quite bored with Saitek drvs and I realized that I can't livee without axis programming. Not only for IL2.
Thx

Yes, I know this page but what I'm looking for is an installation procedure like: -step 1 , step2 etc.

There's no one place to go for install instructions, but between this (http://saitekhelp.simhq.com/Dhauz_Start.htm) page at the site Steve linked and the second post in this thread at SimHQ (http://www.simhq.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=79;t=001793) most of it is covered.

There are a few things to be aware of:

1. Without a profile loaded only the axes will work. The buttons wont even produce default DX button presses without a profile.

2. You MUST NOT use the Windows calibration in the game controllers properties window. There are two little calibration utilities (calib.bat & calib2.bat) in the driver zip file, use them.

3. You will probably have to manually load your profiles using a command prompt command (or a batch file), there is no cute little systray utility in the standard driver package.

On the question of profiling, there are now 3 utilities in use. They are Hazard Script, (http://www.mindspring.com/~haphazard/HazardScript/) XDProfile (http://xdprofile.freebirdswing.org/) and Biped (http://elex.amu.edu.pl/~mjarek/)

Hazardscript is completely text based with a command line profile compiler/loader. It doesn't offer axis banding but does offer mouse emulation on any hat, scripted commands, cycled commands on one key, and any mode shifting scheme you care to invent. Scripts/macros behave in a nice, stable and predictable manner with default timing settings. Once a profile is complete and you have a batch file set up to load it, profile loading is a one or two click operation.

XDProfile is text based but has a graphical user interface to assist with assembling your profiles. In addition to all that Hazardscript has to offer, it also offers axis banding. Profiles can be compiled from the GUI but have to be loaded using the query.exe tool that comes with the driver. As you only need to compile the profile once, as with Hazardscript profile loading is a one or two click operation once the profile is compiled and you have a batch file set up to run the query.exe tool.

Biped I have only just begun to look at and haven't used at all, but it appears to offer at least the flexibility of XDProfile. As an added advantage, it also claims the ability to at least partially translate Hazard and XDP profiles, saving you from starting from scratch if you want to take advantage of Biped's slightly different features. It also offers a systray based loading tool.
On the down side, Biped is still under development so it doesn't yet have a GUI, though that is on the way. Consequently all your profile editing will be (like Hazard) done in text editors.

If you decide to go ahead, I have both hazard and XD profiles for IL2/FB to use as examples or adapt for your own use. If you're interested, send me your email addy by PT and I zip 'em up and send 'em out. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Edit: I note the Biped site is unavailable again. I have the package and documentation so if you want to look it over I can send that too.

Hi Tully,
Managed to install it. Is not quite hard though. I have only one problem. Big rotary went mustang. It behaves like a 3 switch state. That means when I move a bit in one direction , the bar does not extend or shrink.I have thus , only the mid , top and bottom positions with this one. I'll tinker it a bit to see what I can get outta this guy.
Yes,please send me your profiles on this address(don't worry , I dont care if it gets spammed http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif): florin_epuras<at>hotmail.com
Thx

Profiles on the way (you should have them already in fact). The Biped site is back up (last time I checked) if you're interested too.

LOL @ Ven, I'll have to re-install D's drivers to check it out. I've been using the SST for a couple of weeks to learn the profiler, as questions on how to use SST come up so often.
