Al firsthand witnesses of dive-bombing and Kamikaze attacks on naval ships will remind the incredible shock wave and banking or shaking of the ship when hit or nearly missed

people and aircraft would even fall off carrier decks!

something to be modeled in PF now that whe have pitching flightdecks, make them pitch extremly if nearly missed, or when hit make it shake violently (extreme head shake effect?)

follow the link below to a amazing site with action photos of the USS Enterprise in combat,

Would be cool to see planes being thrown off of the deck after a near miss http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif or see them slide off the side when the carrier banks too much.

Then try to take off in one of those planes while you're sliding off the deck with a full bomb load! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif(that would make your hands sweat! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif)

Just one small problem with thisw idea.

Can't say about the IJN, but when the US carriers picked up bogies inbound on their radar they cleared the decks as quickly as possible. If they had planes on deck to be launched the got it done long before the enemy planes commenced their attack.

There were no attempts to recover aircraft while under attack either. The fleet was too busy with evasive maneuveres to land planes. Fleet commanders were not going to risk the safety of the carrier for a few plaens that may be running low on fuel. Those pilots just had to ditch and wait until the attack was over to be picked up.

Granted, it might be cool to watch the action through a static camera, but for true reality, we shouldn't be on deck in our planes during an enemy attack (unless you flying for the IJN at Midway).

There more to the picture

Half of the attacking planes never escaped the American guns and fighters, but the remainder pressed home the attack. Bombs raised geysers around Enterprise, before first bomb plunged through the forward flight deck at 1117 and reemerged to explode in the air, just off the ship's bow. Shrapnel peppered Enterprise with 160 holes between the waterline and forecastle; the blast set one Dauntless on fire, and knocked another overboard, taking with it Sam Presley AMM 1/c, who was manning the 30mm guns in the plane's rear seat.
