I've been browsing the forums checking all the news from the Aces Expansion release in the States, and I just wanted to say a small thanks for the overwhelming comments on the Gladiator. Really appreciated :)

This project has been a huge team effort of long evenings, indoor weekends and trips to museums and book shops. But above all it's been incredibly fun.

This is the team behind the Gladiator/J8A:

- Bj√¬∂rn "F19_Orheim": Research, trips to museums, reference photographs, contact with veteran pilots and curators, and incredible technical advise.
- Alan "Uberalan": Hi-res instrument models.
- Eoin "Onion": Hi-res instrument models.
- Dan "Capitaine Haddock": External and cockpit model and textures. LODs and damage models.

Special thanks to:

- Malmen Flygvapenmuseum (Malmen Airforce Museum): Special help with research.
- Svensk Flyghistorisk F√¬∂rening (Swedish Aviation Historical Society): Special help with research.
- Ed (Target For Tonight): Reference material for the British MkII Reflector Gunsight (to be used in Mk1 and Mk2 cockpits, and already flying in a British Corsair in OFP)
- Oleg and his team for taking us to the WWII skies like we've never seen them before.
- Luthier, Jippo, Steve "Biggs", Dani "Kozhe", Ronnie "Skyraider", Jorge "Oberon", "Jotte", Martin kubany, Mila "Erbriac", and the E111 and F19 guys for their inspiration, enthusiasm and help with this project.
- The 3rd party modelleres for their huge efforts. We know well how much work goes behind each of those pretty planes and cockpits.
- And last but not least, to our girlfriends and wives for all those long evenings and weekends lost in Max.

Just treat well the J8A. She is a delicate young lady, and we still have a couple of weeks before we can take-off in Europe :)

Cheers!

AEP is still is still in transit to my Canadian address but based on the screenshots and community responses, it's a safe bet the J8A will be one of the prize aircrafts in FB.

Thank you, Dan, and a big thank you to all the crew you listed above.

Being a fool, I 'preordered' from ubi - hence I haven't got aep yet.

But I followed the progress on this bird closely and was amazed. I'm glad she's come through into the simm well. Truly a work of art.

I was going to open a thread on the J8. I like it a lot. The cockpit work is amazing. Thanks for the good work!

I won't be able to get AEP until tomorrow, but the screenies look spectacular!!
I was looking at some for a long while trying to figure out how you did this or that.
Simply stunning :|

Cap'n, do you think you could post a shot of the low poly cockpit wireframe (or send me the MAX file + textures?;))? I'd like to see what I can learn and apply in my Pe-2 pit.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Thanks man. Even from the development updates I could tell that the Gladiator had the most beautiful cockpit in the game. Truly a work of art.

Finlands sag er vor!

Heja Sverige!

Huge thanks from a Danish flight sim enthusiast (I mean FB-enthusiast!)

Denmark had a few pilots who flew Gladiators in Finland, so I'll try to make their skins for your beauty, even though the default skin will be a TOUGH act to follow!

Captain Haddock you can be proud!

And now a big smoochy kiss from a favourite lady of yours!

Again.... thanx for the credit buddy.... as I said in the SIMHQ forum:

It was a GREAT project, kind of miss those late nights when we were trying to figure out the placements of the bars, the missing gauge, the Revi that didn't fit etc etc etc...

For those of you who are interested in the details of the J8A, I have answered a few questions back in SIMHQ:

It is the mark of a strong character to recognise the help others have given them :>

Thanks again for the J8a, all of you who helped on it.

Just love this plane- In a quick Mission builder put 16 of these & 16 CR-42s together & had the best ( almost) WW-1 sim combat ever...really a wonderful job!

My favorite bird in the expansion...

Wonderful to look at and a joy to fly....

You hosts out there need to remember to add the J8A to the Allied planeset. It's not just a "blue" aircraft you know.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Have to agree with JamesDietz' earlier post. This superb aircraft gives you a taste of what could happen if the Team decides to do a WW1 Sim in the future. And to the people that worked on the J8- Your effort on the small details is noticed and appreciated in a large way by this community.

I can imagine a lot of crashing in that airplane. People not looking where they are flying, and just staring at that gorgeous cockpit!

You look at it and ask "Why don't they all look that good?" LOL

Great work!

Kudos Capt' and team,
The attention to detail in this model is incredible to behold, dmg. model is amazing and the plane is hoot and half to fly, a huge hit in my opinion. Ive never given the Biplanes much credit until last night when I set up an All biplane QMB, with the intention of simply looking at this gorgeous model..lo and behold some two hours of combat later I realized that flying these little guys ranks up there on my top ten list of simming experience ever, great fun. Thanks again for your hard work. And bring on the "all biplane servers" Ill be there!!
