Hey guys, so sorry if this has been brought up before, but I just discovered the forum so I havent been following it for very long.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you guys about a neat little thing I stumbled upon while replaying AC4. Right at the beginning after first getting out of the animus, if you listen to a conversation of a large group of people on the right of the main hallway, you will hear them bring up the fact that they are interested in Feudal Japan. The tour guide then mentions that shes sure subject 17 has an ancestor from that time, and that "his maternal grandmother's grandmother was from Asia". Could this be even more evidence hinting at a Feuda Japan setting in the coming years?

Sorry again if this has been thoroughly discussed before and I sound like an idiot for bringing it up again. Look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on this : )

This has been brought up a loooong time ago.

IIRC it was just a generic tease by Ubisoft and not full indication of a feudal japan installment

but we all know we're getting feudal japan and not too far from now it seems like

Welcome to the forums!

Feudal Japan wouldn't be my first choice for a full eastern AC, but that isn't to say I won't be interested.

This. A lot of people pre-AC4 were talking about it going back to Japan. Ubisoft decided to go for the West Indies instead but I guess to show they were listening they threw in that little tidbit.

As a side note: why are people hell bent on feudal Japan? The setting doesn't interest me personally. I suppose I'm just not that interested in their culture. Can someone explain why they'd like to go there so badly?

Same reason why you like your favorite setting.

Of course I will, just like every other AC. I prefer China but Japan is still on my list of wants. AC in Asia? HEEELLL YESSS

And I wonder why people are hell bent on Ancient Egypt!?

I find Feudal Japanese history very fascinating, especially during the Tokugawa period. I also like Imperial China. Far East Asia would be a refreshing change of scenery for this franchise.

Because it'd greatly differ from the settings/culture we've gotten as of late. I'm on the side of Assassins Creed jumping to all kinds of different time periods/settings in history. The historical accuracy of the time periods is one of the things that intrigues me about this series. It's like I have an encyclopedia of different time periods at my hands and that's one of the reasons why I buy Assassins Creed every year.

Meh, I have little to no interest in seeing a Feudal Japan AC.

The main reason for this mostly is that the cities would be awful and not fun to free run in (tho it would still not be quite as bad a viking AC, why do people want that again?)

Imperial China > Feudal Japan

Imperial China > Feudal Japan

How on earth would this be bad for free-running? Or parkour for that matter?

They could really do something great if they went to Japan. Sure, there'd be an open field here and there, but it'd be another breath of fresh air for the series. There's no rule that says that they have to put all of the focus on ninjas and samurai. They could portray Japan in a way that no other video game to date has.
