I was mucking about with the P47 the other day and I shut down my engine mid-flight. The first time I did so I switched of the mags and the engine dies and the prop windmills and I'm getting this nice ker-thump ker-thump as the engine turns over without a spark. Nice http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif So I re-engage the magnetos and the engine immediately roars back to life. (As it would, I'd imagine)

Then I switch off the ignition using the "I" key by default.(I don't know whether this is killing the engine by leaning the mixture out or what though. Anyone know?)

So the rpms drop and the engine noise dies away until there's just this chuff-chuff noise from the big radial as the prop windmills. A totally different sound. "WOW!!" I think loudly.
I tell my wife but she's not overly impressed.
"That's nice honey" she responds before going back to the other room. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

I've been playing this game since the IL2 demo and it still has surprises in store. Just thought I'd share. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

LoL. trying to impress non- simmers is hard work once they`ve seen the basic graphics. And women, well, I guess the`re must be some interested in WWII Sim flight, but in my normal everyday experience I just do not see it- it`s just a man thing!

Anyway, I have noticed more detail in the sound engine, especially when I change prop-pitch or coming to a stop. It chugs over nicely, almost like hearing it talk!! The engine really sounds authentic to me. I guess it`s cos it`s about all I CAN hear! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

LMao... "That's nice honey"... sounds very familiar, that's what I say to my wife every time she says ANYTHING while I play IL2 FB online http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

She's very patient with me. When I play online she asks questions like
"Are you going off to play with your friends now?" ... without too much of a mocking tone. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

And last year we went to Vegas from Vancouver stopping at the Seattle Museum of Flight the first day and the one in McMinville OR with the Spruce Goose the following day. And all I has to do in return was marry her in Vegas.

What a gal!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

You are a lucky guy Dubbo, as I am. But recently something has happened to our relationship. She has discovered "Spider Solitaire". Before she could not understand how I could play FB for hours... and now it's my turn.. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO play Spider Solitaire for hours!!!!!????? Lack of understanding is not a good thing, besides she steals away my computer http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Cheers mate for our wives!

PS: Yeah SeaFire, well SOMETHING like that. Besides, Muller is a cool dude. I was thinking of using Rastapopoulous (he iswickedly cool), but I couldn't find the resemblence http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Toad, does not surprise me that I am not alone in this. I too have a 2nd computer, a laptop, so I ask her to play it on that one instead. Does she want to? Nooo, it is obviously important to play this game with a 19" monitor with a Radeon 9800 Pro and stereo sound.

Can someone PLEASE enlighten me what it is with these monotonous booring games that attracts women???? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

LOLO.
This reminds me of a girl (my ex, actually) who spends just about ALL her time playing the incredibly montonous and boring solitaire, flicking cards over and over and over again. Then completing it and starting again!

I ask her what she sees in it and how there are far better games out there (like IL2!!) and she just ignores me and carries on!

Ahh, the stories I could tell. They truly are a mystery!

It's not just women, lots of guys play those kinds of games. Games are games, if they interest you you can play them long enough. (shrugs)

My wife lets me play with my friends and I barely comment on her avid interest in reality and home improvement shows. It works out nicely

I just find none of my friends male or female understand me Full Stop.
Maybe it?s because I wear a 1940s RAF uniform, smoke a pipe & have grown myself a handlebar moustache. Then spend the rest of the evening talking about beating back those terrible Hun in dogfights over the channel in my Hurri.

?THEY JUST DON?T GET IT?

Wife asks that as well, only in Swedish. I only wonder, does she say it in a patronizing tone, or is it just me? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhh the horror the horror. Just the mere mention of that spider thingy sends chills down my spine and I break out in a cold sweat. All the hours of torture I endured as my wife played that dumb game. The only solution to save my sanity and my poor puters microchips,( that screamed and begged for mercy) was to get her,her own comp. Thank god for good deals.

My wife is a StarCraft fanatic on the other computer (long live that old Win 98 puter). Her nephew calls for online games so she'll be yakking with him on the phone while I'm online in IL2. Before she discovered computer games I could be online focussing on a difficult landing and she would shove a handful of papers in my face and ask me to explain what is "this VISA bill on the 7th line?"

The trick now is to keep feeding her computer game addiction. I found an old copy of Brood Wars which should keep her going for awhile and Age of Empires is waiting on the shelf. Just installed Scrabble for her but she's not hooked yet. Will have to encourage her in that when I find time away from FB ... IMAO
