View Full Version : 'Perfect' landscape setting....

Okay. I'm doing something very wrong I'm sure, but I've 'lost' the perfect detail settings option....

I'm running in OpenGL mode (I quickly realised when I first got FB that perfect is only available for OpenGL and not for DirectX)....

I've only noticed the change since 1.22, but it could have happened earlier...

I've a GF4 ti4200 8xAGP running 45.33 nvidia drivers....

I must stop finishing sentences with ...

My American sis in law disagrees, I used to write "weird" until she corrected me.
I've always been confused about that word and you're not helping! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

You see? There's your problem - listening to an American about english.

They can't even spell colour or flavour, and as for pronouncing 'aluminium'!

Checked it on dictionary.com (and american site oddly enough), definitely 'weird'.

Hope I didn't sound too narky btw.

I wish I could help with your settings but it appears this thread has been hijacked.

Make sure you are running in 32 bit and have stencil buffer turned on.

*slaps forehead*

32-bit colour. What a spoon I am. Since Lock On runs better in 16-bit I thought "Might as well turn down desktop settings...".

It's always the simple things in't it?

And thank you for educating me on the etymological roots of aluminIum, I note with interest the name of the site!

And as for tsisqua...IT WERE A FLIPPING TYPO!!!
Okay. You're right. Live by the sword, die by the sword. I groaned when I saw what I'd typed.

Reeto (northern/Bo! Selecta reference), thanks all, I'm off to the pub for a few jars of ******ss (the 'Extra Cold' - mmmm lurvely!)

lol. This is a very favourite subject of many Brits! We do fall all over ourselves when we hear the word `aluminium` said in the US! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Perfect is working fine in my Radeon 9700 and FB patch 1.11. However it doesn't work in a GeForce Ti-4600 with 1.22 patch (crashes to desktop).

This could be because some of your settings. If not my guess is, that it depends either on DX8/DX9 capabilites (e.g. pixel shaders used for the water) or they fooled something in 1.22. Maybe they increased the requirements for perfect mode in 1.22 (requiring pixel shader 2.0 or something).

I've heard some people complain that perfect is very slow (even in high end machines). This could be explained that 1.22 was 'improved' outside the capabilites of the current systems. At least in 1.11 I'm getting good FPS rates. However I'm just making guesses here http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

You should post this on the tech support forum.

Cheers
