Hi,

If you were to build a set of levers panels of switchs, and other controls, from what plane would you prefer to model it? I'm planning to do not a cockpit but a set of levers, trim adjusting, button pannels, etc. But I would like to reproduce a real model not fantasy layout.

So I'm very interested on your preferences because I'm a bit lost. I have found that the P-51D has some interesting devices along the left side, but also the La-7 has some nice levers to control throttle, pitch, mixture, flaps, gear. The Stuka has also some interesting levers layout. I'm a bit lost. Some help? Which do you like more?

Tx!

Best regards

Build what you like. You are the one who'll be stuck with it.

I opted for a more ergonomic setup because I understand the real need for hitting a specific switch faster than my opponent. Thats just my preference.

Liek Baldie said, you don't necessary need to copy some old design to create an ultimate layout. WWII aircraft were not famous for their ergonomics and comfort. If you necessarily wish to copy a design, look at modern cockpits, say F-16 or SAAB J 35 Draken http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

what plane do you fly the most?
that would be a good start for a base- then think about what other planes you fly and what additional controls you would like for them... then compromise- according to budget, game limitations etc.

personally i've built a side panel based sort of on the 109's elev trim/flap wheel, with rudder trim added for other aircraft, supercharger, wep, radiator, gear, drop tanks and lighting switches and a pitch/ mixture quadrant added inside my throttle.
built from a pile of broken joysticks and bits from maplins as a prototype- it works and i'm too lazy to change it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Most important is your throttle layout. Don't make it uncomfortable. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
