I remember the days when guns were pretty rare in AC games and I really want to go back to that! We keep going into the future, I seriously hope that after Victory we go back in time! If we keep going forward were going to end up in time periods like world war 2 and although its a interesting time period I honestly think it will ruin AC.
PLEASE Ubisoft get your finger out and start ruining my favorite game series

According to interviews and articles, we won't go past the 19th century. Victory will probably be the closest setting we get to MD, aside from Rifts.

That said, I like guns in AC. They encourage stealth and make combat more interesting. Bombs on the other hand can go die in a fire. =p

I only hope we can be so lucky as to end up in WW2. That'd be awesome.

AC isn't about swords. If you're constantly getting killed by guns, then you're doing something wrong.

Even though there's gun I barely notice them especially with AC3 when I finish the game I realised I had a gun, lol

Not much problems with enemies having guns, I either take them out first or stealthily or human shield someone or smoke them.

Only used guns in AC4 to clear the ships faster.

In modern day games like Sleeping dogs, I made a no gun play through and still won, with very few shots made when necessary. The rest is kung fu all the way. I even escorted Uncle Po without a single shot fired while being shot from every angle. :D

Well, eventually the games going to have to change. Can't keep sneaking around jumping on roofs stabbing people in the back. That gets old and boring after years of it. They have to compete with Red Dead or GTA, and i think they can do it, exploring time periods rarely explored in todays games.

Take it into the future and into space and let the hero become a member of the Interplanetary League of Assassins for Hire (ILAH).

You should give it a shoot, can't run around with kitchen knives forever.

I never said I'm always getting killed by guns I just don't like them in the game, I find it more fun having to get up close and personal.

I start playing this game as spiritual successor of Prince of Persia. When I watched the E3 demo back in 2007 I fall in love with this game. The cool sword fighting animations, parkour, leap of faith. I always considered AC as POP sibling. Now when I see you are having sword and the enemies are using guns it looks awkward.

May be lots of you don't care if the enemies are carrying guns and you can still kill them with knife or sword, but it doesn't make seance. I know that most of the earlier followers came through POP franchise and to be honest they also don't like guns in the series.

AC has already been ruined my friend, I don't think a World War 2 game would make a difference.

Anyways as someone else on here said, I kinda like guns. They definetly help encourage stealth and add more weapon variety, if expanded upon I think it could be truly great.

Though with all that said, yes we should go back in time eventually I agree. Ancient Egypt/Rome would be epic, but for now I am perfectly content with being in the 18th/19th century because we know we won't go back to the 18th century once they go back, so I will just enjoy it while it lasts.

They should increase reload time on flintlocks and muskets.
I like guns,as long as they are kept in the 17th to 19th century.I don't mind my enemies having a gun though.

i dotn care baout guns as far as we get enemies who shoot you with what ever. Else combat gets onesided. To coordinate with possible pistols/rifles makes it mroe risky. Else we need crossbowers, spear throwers and accurate archers. (not that **** from AC 1 and 2 where they miss everything)

guns have been around since AC2. They've been with the franchise longer than they haven't.

And hear was me thinking these forums might be different but shame on me for not realising there is always trolling idiots

Wow, because they disagree and point out the obvious, they're trolling idiots? That's ironic coming from someone who wants a discussion. Seems to me like you just want people to agree with you in drones.

Although, this forum used to be better than this. =p

Here's an AC discussion. There are many reasons why I prefer guns in AC.

* Guns advocate stealth. It has sharper aiming, packs a bigger punch, and alerts other nearby guards. It keeps you on your toes and makes you more wary of rooftop guards,

* Guns make combat more engaging. Whether you're using a human shield or dodge rolling, you're always attentive of faraway enemies. The AI are also more cohesive by aiming at you with a group and when you're pinned against more than a few. And because guns deal more damage than a bow and arrow, it adds more difficulty to the combat.

* Guns are cool. I mean, they have some sick designs and sweet animations that are to die for. =p

That might be so, but they seemed to be OP in Unity. Also, since they got rid of human shield, it made dealing with these guys harder. I wouldn't have mind as much if i was able to pick up one of the damn rifles and use it. Nope, you have to select that as your weapon... i dont want to have a big rifle on me at all times, i want to be able to pick one up from a guard i just killed and use it and then throw it away...

lol.... you see they weren't pointing out the obvious because I clearly said before I was NOT saying there was a time that there was no guns, I was saying there was a time where guns were pretty rare in the game so your comment is invalid.

Anyway, IU do agree with what you say about guns advocate stealth and though I do like that I just wish we could go back to things like the player having the hidden blade pistol where it was one shot the a long reload time rather than what we seen in Unity where you have 4 shots from your pistol then a reload

They're more abundant in Unity, but I wouldn't say they're OP. You've got many ways of dealing with them. 1. Take care of the snipers first. I do that in every AC. 2. Throw down a smoke bomb or stun grenade. 3. Dodge roll or hover behind another guard. 4. Shoot them before they shoot you.

Dodge rolling is the substitute for human shield. You no longer need a nearby meat shield and you can hover/roll behind another enemy to take the hit for you.

There wasn't a time when guns were pretty rare in AC games. It's been a thing since AC2.

Oh plz no, the hidden pistol was OP AF. The concept was interesting, but the outcome was dreadful. Split second reloading, ample amount of ammo, noise doesn't attract faraway guards, infinite double-tool-kills, and extremely fast aiming in B/R. It makes Edward's quadruple pistols feel embarrassing. =p

With the hidden pistol, you can shoot down 4 guards just as fast, or even faster, than Unity or BF.

Are you talking about AC 2. I think you have never played it just had in your dreams. How can you shoot 4 guards with the hidden gun faster than BF

yeh they have always been a thing but back in games like AC2 there was hardly any guards with guns so they were pretty rare tbh now near enough every enemy npc has a pistol

I understand that guns in the game make you think about how to approach the situation differently but there has been so many times where i've been able to get withing firing range of target and i've been able to just shoot him instead of having to get up close and personal...... argh I don't know i guess I just prefer the old way of the assassins creed where it was supposed to about appearing out of nowhere stabbing your target in front of the people and then making an escape, I guess I just feel cheap when i'm able to shoot them

Something just occurred to me. I'll give you this bit since technically AC1 had handhelds like Altair's Chronicles and Bloodlines. They aren't full games, but I'm enjoying Bloodlines a whole lot more than Liberation and might rank it with the major titles. It doesn't have guns so there you go. =p

Not to nitpick, but Unity emulated that the best and it had ample of guns. AC1 and especially AC2 were very scripted.

hmm I guess your right about the Unity thing, I did enjoy unity for the level of freedom it gave us to complete missions.
I guess my main problem with the whole gun thing really comes down to I really dont want to get to the stage where in a AC game the gun is seen as the main weapon and your sword is secondary
