I'm just wondering, is the fuelswitch modelled at all in FB, I mean in real life you'd be switching between the different fueltanks in order to get the best weight/balance in flight and, as I understand from previous treads, the P-51 had a tank in the rear that they would use first becourse it almost threw the aircraft out of the envelope if they tried to engage with fuel in it???

It would be nice but I dont think it is modeled in FB ...yet anyway..... Maybe it will be in the patch. it would be nice. Add even more immersion in the CEM....

In real world, P-51 pilots had been trained well to be aware of it so never happen. CO will not let anyone fly P-51 if not pass written test.

I suspect that using the fuel tanks to change the aircraft balance mid flight may have been something unique to American aircraft.

The P-40 pilot instructions also included draining various tanks first, to make the aircraft more stable in flight

I haven't tracked down a P-47 manual yet, but I strongly suspect that it was standard operating proceedure to drain the auxilery tank before the main tank. If that was the case, then the P-47 in FB has its center of gravity to far back when its running at 75% or less fuel. That would explain its stability problems, and overly tight turn radius.

From what I can tell, if FB all the tanks are modeled as one large fuel tank. I do know that the P-47's fuel tanks drain simultaniously in the game.

you can in CFS but you cannot in the more advanced FB !!! silly isnt it when you can run out FAST ... some planes have had self-sealing feul tanks moddeled tho which is nice

If you have any manuals in pdf let us have them http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I have a nice collection going.

I would like to see fueltank switching along with mid air fuel dumping

to me the most important thing missing from fb is airframe overstressing, its extremely important and more then just a max dive speed a plane looses control surfaces from, you would loose a wing before an alieron would come off unless due to fire, airframe overstressing would narrow the huge gap between vvs and luft. although the 109k is one of the better performing machines in the game
