There are tons of hardware made to go with the MSFS series. Some of the throttle quadrant thingies might also work with FB.

they might be less expensive too.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote
that is in thy brother's eye, but
considerest not the beam that is
in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy
brother, Let me pull out the mote
out of thine eye; and, behold, a
beam [is] in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out
the beam out of thine own eye; and
then shalt thou see clearly to cast
out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

If any1 from this board buys this product, I would love to hear how it works with il-2/FB. I'm especially interested on how the software works, does FB recognize it instantly as a slider or do you have to program keyboard macros to it?

I have a MS FFB2 also. To be an ace in FB, you NEED a separate throttle device with some gizmos on it.

What you need to get is CH Pro Throttle USB.
<img src=http://www.chproducts.com/retail/products/usb/throttle.jpg>
<a href=http://www.chproducts.com/retail/usb_pro_throttle.html>sliding gizmo</a>

And try this map data sometime in your map file. You'll know what I mean later. note: -=[] are keyboard assigned prop and mix + and -

Extra joysticks work good for this as well.

I have put my two busted Wingman sticks to work as a source of extra axis. One on the desk for stick and throttle, one on the other side of desk for trim and more buttons, the last one under my desk for prop pitch (move it with my toe).

I paid $130 to Best Buy. You might get it for $100 somewhere on the internet but I wanted to be able to go to a nearby store to return it if needed.

Did anyone ever get this (the Powermate USB device) to work with their prop pitch in FB? I can't seem to get it to work in FB - works great in other apps but not FB. (at least for me)

Anyone?

No been wondering about it too, For a moment I thought Locos had gone loco reposting this thread.

If it will work I'd try one too.

Can you get it to work the other axis like trim, throttle or have you only tried prop.

I have one sitting on my desk, but have never been able to get it to work at all. Their tech support was of no help either. It makes a cool looking paperweight though.

Its easy enough too make a throttle quadrant with a few bits from a hardware store and one or two cheap usb joysticks, I made one with three levers and extra buttons and hatswitches for about $50-$60AUS dollars, and a day or two of work, Il2 and FB pick them up no problems.

Is there a way to get the Profiler software to load a profile by default? I only play IL-2:FB and have to load my IL-2 profile before launching the game.

I'm quite partial to this one. Mighty costly though. Also, mine's actually broken (a couple of buttons don't work) - I got it for cheap and am using it while I wait for the next batch to get shipped here and I'll swap it.

I hate to say it but RBJ is bang on when it comes to the perfect setup getting the most for your money. MSFFB2 since you need the best FFB for FB and CH Pro Throttle to let you put everything you need at your fingertips (assigning a shift button doubles the commands you can assign).

Those other joysticks are great and have lots of buttons but if it doesn't have FFB you are missing out on half the immersion in this game. With FFB you'll never drop a wing or stall without feeling it coming long before it happens, and who needs buttons on the base of a joystick if you have everything in reach on the throttle?

It's a bit pricey for the throttle but this combination is by far the most practical solution that gives you the most in return which is why I took so long to research before buying it.

The only thing holding RBJ back is his irrational bias against TIR which is his loss but at least it gives him something to b1tch about on the forums.

It's getting time to look at some decent pedals...

Care to give any details on what you did? This Powermate is going back - it looks and feels great - but FB doesn't recognize it at all.
