A big THANK YOU to whoever transcribed Space Oddity for bass.

You nailed it dude, many thanks as my band is going to cover it. One of the best basslines, very melodic, travels all over the fretboard, great fun to play.

So I needed to know who played the bass on this recording, I woulda guessed Mick Ronson, Bowies guitarist. But, it turns out the producer, Tony Visconti played it,what a genius !

Apart from Bowie, he's produced for T Rex, the Strawbs, Badfinger, Iggy Pop, Thin Lizzy, Moody Blues amongst others.

Would love a spotlight article on this song one day.

if you haven't played this song on bass, give it a go.

One of my favourites, we need more basslines in the game like this, way too much easy chug-a-long stuff this past year in the DLC. There are many great bass players out there, but they aren't getting packs... despite several having one song in the game. Frustrating.

Space Oddity is a real challenge. Until I swapped from PS3 to PC, I'd fear getting the challenge to raise my mastery on Space Oddity from x to y. I'm too chicken to get it for the PC....

Come on, it's so much fun to play !

I don't do any scoring anymore, no score attack. I just play along in LAS , recording my playing for an audition CD, not waiting for any score,I just restart and go again, and again hehe. It sounds pretty close atm, but I wouldn't want to try and pass Score Attack with all those D string slides. No one has FCd it yet. But I bet many can play it pretty damn close so that it sounds spot on, just not perfect enough for the game.

I'll give it a go if I get time next week. If I remember rightly I was only around 97% last time I tried. I'll get back to you...

I got the FC a few days ago on RS2014. I FC'd it on the original RS a couple of weeks before 2014 came out.

Cool deal, Elephant-o-pee (that's how I always read your name!).
Just purchased this and played twice. Nice. Honestly never paid any attention to the bassline in this song before.

BTW, according to the all knowing Wikipedia, bass in this song is played by Herbie Flowers (whoever that is!). Correct or not I have no idea.

You must have heard Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side. That is Mr Flowers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbie_Flowers). He's actually playing electric and upright, so he gets double the royalties....

That makes sense,awesome bassist.

My info was from the Space Oddity wiki,EDIT just re-read it and Herbire played bass on this song,Tony probably on the rest of the album.

If you listen to the youtube bass and drum isolated track, bits of it sound like improv jazz kinda.

PS good work elem, I knew you must have it FCd if I can get to 99.x% lol
