Ok, I understand that the maximum size is over 2000 square kilometers, with a 32:1 scale. But what I'm looking for is in the sandbox editor, what is the maximum size in -UNITS- that a map can be. I'm assuming its 32k x 32k but I'd like some confirmation.

well, i tred making a map that was 4'4 kilometers and that was huuge, dont really see how anything bigger is fun, as traveltime becomes really big. fun map thou

With such large maps possible (and feasible as new hardware is able to handle bigger and bigger maps) a whole new world of possibilities for mods opens up. Great big RPG style stuff like Morrowind, or maybe Natural Selection would migrate to this engine. Great big outdoor maps with that game would rule!

It's about 2000x2000km. Making a map this size is ******ed, you're better off making it say, 9 4km maps, and having the other preload in the background:

ghi
You're in (a), you get within 750m of (d), so (d) starts pre-loading. Pre loading won't always work, it might be too resource intensive and so on, but you get the idea.

whats the max map size for mp ? well that you will still have decent fps ... . going to make an coop mission but im wondering of the fps with all the ai and sutch
