Thread: Games runs very well and then... | Forums

Ive scrolled and check out other topics but i dont seem to find anybody with the problem that I have. let me start of with my computer specs:

    pentium 4 2.4 ghz
    512 mb ram
    radeon 9600 pro

I set all options to medium, lighting and particle options to low, and water to high. with such settings, in MULTIPLAYER, the game runs at a very pleasent 40-60 fps without major drops.
however, after playing for 10-15 minutes frame rate drops to about 20 fps and everything starts to randomly pause and game becomes very unsmooth, barely playable, unenjoyable. i am assuming it is because i dont have enough ram, but why does it run fine at first? and which configuration settings have greatest impact on the amount of ram used? what can i do besides buying more ram?

    thanks

Sounds like the standard "low light memory leak" problem. Change lighting to medium or high. And It should work.

I'm having the same exact problems, however lighting is set for medium. If I join a server that has 3 or 4 players, I can play for alot longer. If the server has 12 or more, I can only play for about 5 minutes and the choppyness then kicks in pretty quick.

So maybe the lighting setting might work for you...
