Even at extremely low sensitivity I find that the game is hypersensitive to the tracker, and tends oscillate rapidly between positions. I posted a thread on the bug forum, please comment there if you have experienced the problem or know of a workaround.

The oscillations (if you're thinking what I'm thinking) come from the view restrictions in the cockpit. You move your head one way, and the view follows another.

Here's a little how-to on setting speed I posted on the IL-2 boards.

The speed is controlled by the curves (A).

In my custom settings here, you can see that it moves faster (moves view faster with same head motion) in the edges, and a big, smooth deadzone in the middle.

To adjust your settings / create a custom curve, you need to set the "Speed" (B) at each "Point" (C).

The little triangle above the "0" on the X-axis shows where I'm currently editing, and you can see the speed is set to zero.
(Perhaps a different screenie would be better...)

Move the Edit Point (C) slider one notch, and you will see two triangles indicating the two points you are editing. (One for each side of center).

There are 5 or 6 "points" to edit along each axis, I prefer to edit X separately from Y, but that's a matter of individual taste.

You said that you felt it moved very fast, so you might want to try setting the speed to zero AT EACH POINT.

Set the speed at each point as you wish, you use Smoothing (D) to control how smooth the curve will be between each point you set the curve in. If smoothing is set to zero, the transition between each point will be very abrupt and jagged.
I don't think smoothing does anything at all if you use a preset curve, although I'm sure there's lot's of people who thought it was much better.

edit: Another tip: If you use the TrackHat, wear it backwards. This will move the view slower since the dot has less "leverage" when it's close to your forehead.

Yes, its true. I use TIR 1 with 2.11 drivers and althought I use 120 in smoothness setting is too fast for me.
Besides, Is there any way of get rid of the mouse cursor everytime I center the TIR with F12 key????

    Tnx

I don't get the mouse cursor when I center my tr1. I bet this is more related to your mouse drivers. I never load mouse drivers. Hardware mouse cursor option appear anywhere?

OK thanks for the tip, Ola, though I've been experimenting a lot with my custom profile already. I see from your graph that you have a flat curve for most of the way - which sensitivity have you set for this part of the curve? looks like 7-10 from the 'height'.

I also notice that your Y axis, like mine, is set to a higher sensitivity - I guess it's very hard to set up the tracker so that vertical head movements give as large a delta as horizontal.

Last question: Which version of the TrackIR and driver are you using? I have v1 of the tracker and am using the 3.X (unsure if it's .02 or .03) of the drivers, and I am beginning to suspect that the oscillations may partly be the fault of the drivers..

NaturalPoint does not recommend the 3.0x drivers for TrackIR 1. I used that version 3.03 and then switched to version 2.11 and all the oscillations went away. Smooth as a baby now.

Lovely. I'll reinstall the old drivers asap, thanks

If this fixes the problem I'll update my bug report with the new info.
