In reguards to the game settings.....you have written what FarCry manuel writers should have written. Well done.
I have printed your guide for the graphics and sound and stapled it to the back of the Farcry manaul.

Your guide has allowed a crapy system like mine...
AMD Thnderbird 900MHz (100MHz FSB)
GeForce 5200 128 (agp 8x running at 4x)
kt133 DFI mother with max 4x agp
512 of pc133 RAM running at 100MHz fsb
...run even better than I could do my self being the Certified PC Tech and hardcore gamer that I am.

Thanks guys, glad to see it's helping. As you say, I too believe a lot of this information should be in the game's manual, particularly regarding the effects of in-game settings.
However writing tweak guides is what I do, so I guess it's no skin off my nose
Again, since the CryEngine engine is quite new, I may have got something wrong so please email me if you find any obvious mistakes.

My Machine is as tweaked as it will ever get.
i have a Account i created for gaming only. and i also launch thata ccount under a different hardware profile.
uptill now i thought i could get farcray as good as i can get it with it still being playable.
But thanks to you guide i was able to better fine tune the settings so i now have level 2 bump mapping and also have dynamic lights from my gun flare. This means in order to compensate i needed to tweak otehr things down. Now my FarCry looks even mroe beautiful then it did before! and i still have a good playable fps averaging 25.

I have a Account I created for gaming only. This account is also launched under a different hardware profile. In the hardware profile, just about everything is disabled. theonly thing working are stuff needed to boot into windows 2000 and run a game.
uptill now i thought i could get FarCry as good as I can get it with it still being playable.

This means in order to compensate i needed to tweak other things down(thingds that either werent essential for realism or that tweakign them down didnt produce any significant chang ein visuals but definatly gave back a few fps. Now my FarCry looks even mroe beautiful then it did before! and i still have a good playable fps averaging 25.
