Have Myst Masterpeice, win XP. Knocking around dock area and grounds nearby, found book that has picture of "world" with windmills in a swamp. Finger pointer changes to hand over tht picture, but when I "grasp" to-I assume-go to that world, game quits completely.
Glitch or something about game I missed?
    Thanks for any help.

Someone else here had the exact problem you're decribing, but I don't know whether he solved it or not yet. So I can't be of any help other than to tell you you're not alone

    Likely you've already done this:

Check your compatibility mode. (Switch to Windows 95 or 98)

Check your color settings (back to 256 colors or 24 bit).

I ran the Masterpiece Edition with Windows XP and was able to get into that age. If you've checked both those things, you need some help from someone more savvy about this sort of thing? AussieMystic?????

This is probably a quicktime compatibility problem.

Try deinstalling your current version of Quicktime and installing the older version that comes on the Myst disk.

There is more discussion of this topic in the Quicktime Compatibility thread at the top of the old technical hints forum (bottom of the forum list).
