i have an ati 9600 non pro, and i'm getting the same thing, the game freezes, locks up my pc an stuff. i have to reboot every time 
, i tried cataylst 3.7,3.8,3.9, new via drivers. none fixed the problem. and yes i have Anti aliasing set to application preference. can you dudes/dudettes please bring out a patch!

try turning off fastwrite and VPU recovery in the ATI control panel. Hope it helps!
