The installer currently only works on 10.9 and later but I should be able to make a more compatible version if requested.

Thanks for the installer. It worked perfectly with the DVD version I have for Myst III using OS X 10.10. However, I also have the CD version of Myst III and the installer hangs right after it asks for CD2. The installer properly ejects CD1 and asks for CD2. However, it hangs after CD2 is inserted and doesn't appear to continue the installation. Also, I have an older MacBook Pro running 10.6.8. Is it possible to configure the installer to run on Snow Lepoard or higher. Thanks again for allowing us to play this game on newer hardware.

I'm pretty new to all this~ I hadn't even played Myst in 20yrs, and now I'm figuring out how to get the 10th anniversary trilogy to work on Mac 10.8.2. I got Myst and Riven to run with ScummVM (wonderfully, by the way!), but I can't get it to work for Exile. I know you said the installer is for 10.9 and later, but I'm wondering if you either know of a way to make it work, or know another option I could try?
I just downloaded ResidualVM, as I couldn't find a list of the required Exile files in ScummVM... I did find the list in ResidualVM, but now I can't find the all ACTUAL files on my Exile disk :P
This is what I got from ResidualVM:
    ├── bin
    │ └── M3.exe
    ├── Data
    │ └── *.m3a
    └── M3Data
└── Various files and folders (including the DVD version's menu language file)
Only, in the bin folder on the Exile disk, there is NO 'M3.exe' file.

Anyway, I'm sure its probably just me having to idea what to do here... but I saw this universal installer post and thought it might be the answer to making this easier...

    Thanks

    Hi jwhsu & nikkidelia,

Thanks for your reports, I will work on a more compatible installer (can't say when it will be ready sorry). I also suspected a stability problem when switching CDs so I'll look into that too.

nikkidelia, in the meantime you could try looking in a folder called "English" or similar for m3.exe.

    Awesome

This is awesome guys. I've just played through Myst 1&2 and has borrowed the old CD-version of Exile to play it on my Mac. I do have the same problem as "jwhsu" that the installer hangs right after it asks for CD2. The installer properly ejects CD1 and asks for CD2 but then stops. I was able though to play through the first two Ages, I guess the ones that are installed from CD1... Appreciate you work loads! I'm on a MacBook 13" running OS X 10.10.

    @jwhsu, McKillney
I believe I've fixed the crashing problem. Please redownload the installer and let me know how you get on.

More compatible version still to come...

Okay, I've just reworked it to be compatible with 10.6 and higher. I haven't actually tested on anything below 10.9 though so please let me know if it works.

    Problems with installer

I tried to use the installer today. I've got the Myst III Exile DVD from the 10th anniversary pack, and am on an iMac running OS X 10.9.5. The installer seems to work - no error message, it asks the language, folder, etc. It starts installing the files... and then with the progress bar just an itsy bit full, it freezes and hangs. I had to Force Quite it, since pressing the X to cancel the install did nothing. I cleared all files, re-downloaded, tried again - same results. Plenty of space on my hard drive, and no other programs running/eating up memory. See screenshot for where it stalls out (maybe that's the same place it'd switch from CD1 to CD2 like others had mentioned?).
