Hi,
I have noticed while setting up Far Cry DEMO that it is not possible to select the "doppler effect" feature of the game. I am not sure why this happens. I know someone else who has the same problem.
Does anybody know how I can fix this?
Does anybody else have the same problem?
Is there a reason why it cannot be selected?
Thanks

in the sound menu, just go through the options with your "TAB" key, till the doppler effect is highlighted, then just press ENTER and voila, you have it.

i think by default its off
but if you feel brave do this... your
in your
:\ubisoft\crytek\far cry demo directory -->look for systemcfg.lua
(but make sure you back this copy up)make a copy systemcfg.lua put it where u know where it is in case you screw up the systemcfg.lua so have a extra copy that way you won't have to re-install the game or repair if you screw things up)
open systemcfg.lua with notepad or wordpad...
go down till you see this
s_DopplerEnable = "0" ( 0 means it is off)
put in a 1
it should look like this
s_DopplerEnable = "1" (1 means its enabled)
save and exit out...
when you go in game you will hear it.. its nice too!...

Yeah, I noticed this too, what exactly is the Dopple Effect?

The Doppler Effect is the concept that explains why when an object passes you, it sounds lower pitch after it's passed you and is moving away.
I don't know if it works realistically in Far Cry, haven't messed with the option yet, but it should be something to that effect.

To make it easy ever see any of the ALIEN movies? Thats what the Marines use to track the aliens. Thats the beeping radar.
Also subs naval vehicles use it.
SAME WITH Dolphins and Bats for that matter.

No its not that. That is radar or sonor. doh.
Dopplar is the effect that an object moving closer to you sounds higher pitched and lower as it moves away. This is due to the sound waves moving at the same speed while the object is moving.
Example you are dropping pebbles into flat water at a constant rate. the waves ripple out evenly. now move your hand at a constant speed to the right while continuing to dorp pebbles. the waves will be farther apart to the left and closer together on the right, the direction you are moving. The same thing happens with sound except in three dimensions.
Real world example. Think of a train coming towards you. The sound gets higher and then passes you and gets lower.
