hi, to start off i will say this game runs terrible on my computer. It will run 45-100fps but in reality it plays like it is running at 10-15fps wether it be SP or MP. As i read in a previous post, changing resolutions dont' help either or using the lowest possible graphic options.

I have tried catalyst drivers from 4.1-4.4 and all yield the same results. I have even uninstalled all my creative sound drivers just in case as well. The darn game just plays so choppy.

Here is the kicker though, the game runs bf1942 with no problems on all settings high with graphics options for the vid card on all default.

I have also tried playing with fastwrites/overdrive/and vpu recover and nothing happens.

    system specs:
    xp pro
    gigabyte ati 9600xt
    2500+
    512ram
    nf7-s abit mobo.

I apologize for the long post but i just dont know what to try anymore. Thx

Well the sound card "could" be a problem but un-installing the drivers is not the solution.
Have you tried going into dxdiag and turning down the sound acceleration?
Do you have anything running in the background that you are not aware of? (instant messaging etc)
Your specs are pretty good so there must be something else going on, although 45-100 fps is actually very good. Is the lagginess usually only for the first round you play?

Here is a post from Woody at TGZ

The following are tweaks to improve frame rates in RVS:
(NOTE): These are .ini file adjustments. It's always a good idea to back up these files in case you make a mistake entering or changing any values. Pay careful attention to your entries as any typos can have disastrous effects. Depending on how your folders are set up the following files may or may not include the .ini label at the end of the file name. The icon will appear as a notepad with a gold gear on it. An easy way to find the following entries is to open the file and click on the edit tab at the top of the file and use the find option.

The first changes will be made to the user.ini file found at C:/program files/redstorm entertainment/save/profiles/user.ini.
Open the user.ini file and find the entry labeled Showrefreshrate=False.
Change this value to =True. Save changes and close. This will enable you to see the supported refresh rates in your games, options, graphics menu.

The next changes will be made to the ravenshield.ini file found at C:/program files/red storm entertainment/raven shield/system/ravenshield.ini
Find the entry cachesizemegs=32. This entry is present 3 times in this file so you must change it in all 3 places. Change the value from =32 to =64 or =128, depending on your video memory. Remember to change it in all 3 places!!!
Next find the entry USEVSYNC=True. Change this value to =False
This change is optional but I have used it and found no effect in video quality whatsoever and it will increase frame rates. Save changes and close. If you experience "tearing" or other graphic anomolies change this setting back to =True.

The next adjustment applies to XP users. Unknown to many is a setting in XP that defaults refresh rates in games to 60 Hz as soon as the game is opened. Even if you adjust refresh rates in the monitor settings, this applies only to the desktop and reverts to 60 Hz at the launch of games.
The best way I've found to get around this is a nifty little program called refreshlock available at http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rl/ . This can be set to override refresh rates and change the windows default refresh rate to whatever your monitor and video card will support. In most cases, it's likely that your video card will support a higher refresh rate than your monitor so your settings should be adjusted to accomodate your monitor.(NOTE): Exceeding the maximun refresh rate your monitor supports is not recommended and may cause permanent damage. Please consult your monitor manufacturers homepage for monitor specs.
After determining your maximum supported refresh rates and setting them in refreshlock, right click on your desktop and go to properties. Click the settings tab then click the advanced button. Click the monitor tab and uncheck the box labeled "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display". Again, these are Windows default settings so don't pay attention to the windows warning. Enter your maximum supported refresh rate and click apply. Next, click on your video card tab and if there is an override refresh rate setting available adjust it accordingly. Depending on the type of video card you have you may or may not have settings for performance. If you do, adjust all settings for best performance. This may include Direct3d and OpenGL settings available.
Save all changes, restart comp and kick some ***!!!
(NOTE): Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card and monitor if available. Update drivers before making these adjustments as the updates will revert back to default settings. When updating Nvidia Drivers, you must dl the latest drivers, restart your comp in safe mode and remove the old drivers before updating. When removing old drivers go into regedit and remove the nvidia file before updating. This is located in Regedit/hkey_local_machine/software. After removing the old driver and associated files, restart in safe mode again, stop the windows installer when it tries to auto-install drivers and install the new, downloaded driver from your desktop.
Enjoy your new found speed but don't use it to kick my ***
Great forum, great website, great servers... Thanks TGZ!!!

also, i will note again that even at 40-100 fps range displayed by the game, the game appears to lag at around 15-20 frames during play. Whether it be SP or MP. And no, it isn't just first round.

Only thing in background running is teamspeak. But once again i'll note that I can run BF1942 with teamspeak on just fine and that takes a heck of a lot more bandwidth than RvS.

Have you tried the things I suggest in the link that Lawless posted?

Maybe try to defragment your harddrive too, if it is really fragmented...

Are you running RvS at 1.56 patch?

Have you tried reinstalling seeing if that helps, and delete all leftover files in RvS install dir, before reinstalling.

well, stupidest resolution ever. My lcd supports both dvi and vga. I unplugged dvi and decided to try the vga for sh** and giggles.

It fixed the problem but not totally. Atleast the game is playable now. Thx for ur help though. I'll try the rest of those suggestions to try and stop the choppiness.

    thx again.
