I need some help. The system tray has disappeared on a friend's daughter's laptop. Anyone have any ideas on how to make it reappear? Have no idea what happened. It was there when she last shut it down. But is nowhere to be found now. I searched all along the margins in case it was unlocked but "no go".

    Thanks,

    Rich

Thanks. But, unfortunately the entire systray is missing, not just the icons. There's nothing there for me to choose Start, Run from.

Looks like a system restore may be the only option after all.

    IronHand,

If I understand you correctly - you mean the Start Menu is missing as well? Following on from Air-Force-1's suggestion, you could use the task manager to start it (i.e. ctrl-alt-del, then use the New Task button).

On your keyboard down in between Ctrl and Alt on the bottom left corner there is the windows botton..

select it and the start menu will apear..go to...control panel..select appearence ant themes and then select taskbar and start menu...put a check mark by auto hide the task bar..and a check on..keep the taskbar on top of other windows...and there.......

    there's an easier solution though.....

scroll your mouse all the way to the bottom of your screen..you will see that there apears an arrow...when the arrow appears drag it by left clicking and hold while dragging up...Wualla !!!!

Thanks guys but, so far, no go with those suggestions on "unhiding" the task bar. I thought that it might be hidden off the screen but that's not it. Have tried all your suggestions except system restore.

    Thanks again.

2.this could happend if you have a onboard grapich card and install a second video adapter, to fix go to bios and turn off the onboard.
