I can create terrain in UnrealEd for UT2003 at this point in under a minute, but I cannot seem to do it in RvS w/o crashing...I've read all the tutorials I can find, and I am stumped...I cannot make terrain without moving my mouse outside of the terrain window..how are you supposed to do that? How am I supposed to paint on textures without using the virtual viewport?
and what the hell does this mean...
"**Make sure that you've already created a grey (128,128,128)alpha map for your first
layer (ex. 256x256 RGBA8 (TGA 32 bits) the alpha channel must be white )"
Do I create a gray image 128 by 128 pixels? what resolution?

No don't create it, the game will do that for you.
About the crashing, it's normal. I have found a way around this though.
Go to View > Viewports > Floating
Then close all the windows with the terrain editor open. Make the terrain and add one layer, then you can save it.
Next..
Go to View > Viewports > Configure
Choose how you want your windows and hit OK. Done.

Woohoo!!!It works!!!Yipee!!!
Now a new problem that I cant sem to find in the tutorials:
I Create a small building on my new terrain buy adding a cube sized 512, 512, 512, then subtract a cube inside that cube sized 496, 496, 496...This works fine...But then whenever I subtract a door, now matter how high above terrain, and then build all, the floor of the building diappears leaving only terrain...is this a common problem? Thanks for the help.

Not really enough info....Is the floor actually above the terrain cuz it kinda sounds like it might be below which is why you see what you see. Hard to say though...like I said, not enough info.

OK...I was aligned my door ubtraction over the ground, not over the floor of the room...I put it above the floor of the room by an inch or so, and it worked perfectly...
New problem...when I load my map, I run around it to make sure that my terrain is what I want it to be...occasionally, usually when i am standing within lighted areas (light actors, not my sunlight actor though) my terrain just disappears from view....I dont fall through it or anything, and my buildings are still there, but my terrain will just diappear...when i am outside these lighted areas, the terrain is fine...any ideas?
