After negotiating the spikes and rejoined with the girl I climbed up a palm tree next to the zoo. That led me to another tree which I climed and directly in the background the round part of the zoo. Now I have to jump to the ledge but there is a bird and on the lamp post higher sits another one. Everytime when I end up on the ledge the bird attacs me and I die.. How best to defend against these animals...Thanks..

You can still use the sword on ledge..

You have to block, immediately after it pecks at you, swing with sword...it's easy, just have to time it right...

Sometimes when you click button to block, the Prince doesn't block, if so, you may have to wait for bird to come closer for block to be "enabled", if you can't use block at all, you can still do it if you time it right, by waiting for bird to begin lunge, then you swing sword.

Another good method is to drop down and hang from the ledge. The bird will slowly fly low to peck you. Climb back up and the bird is within reach of your sword. I find this way to be easier if you are standing on a ledge where you can't block.
