To chalksketch,

You can use sensors with claymores for ambushes IE: place a claymore in a choke point of a known high traffic area and hidden but close by lay a sensor. Look on the command map and when a red square appear in the line of fire on the claymore switch to the secondary weapon and detonate it.

You can also place a sensor on the out side of a building to see where the enemy is located within the building. But remember if there prone they do not show up. As you move forward and cleared an area you can lay a sensor to protect your six from enemy flanking and using it as a early warning device but if spotted the sensor can be shot and destroyed.

    Sensor

Sensors function like an extra soldier in terms of detection. When a hostile or a vehicle passes within detection range of a sensor, they appear on the command map. Sensors are placed on the field in the same way that demolitions charges are. Just be warned that if the enemy is lying prone then they do not show up on the command map. Also be aware that if you don't conceal the sensor it can be shot and rendered useless. The sensor can also work through solid objects and has a 40 meter radius of detection.

    AN/GSQ-187 Sensor

The AN/GSQ-187 sensor is a placed remote sensor that can pick up enemy movements based upon several types of input. The sensor can detect changes in seismic, acoustic, thermal, and magnetic energy in the area. It can then process this information and relay to a computer the location, speed, and direction of travel of any units passing through the area. It is even capable of determining the difference between tracked and wheeled vehicles through seismic data.

The information they give you is where the enemy is - as long as the enemy is not lying prone. To see the information, look on your command map. Remember sensors can detect everything in their range (40m) - regardless of walls etc.

Use them to set traps like Snipe said, or give you general information about enemy location - eg on the mission in GR where you have to defend the NATO HQ (mission 3?) you can place sensors to show you in detail where the attacks are coming from. It can also tell where troops within buildings are, as it can see through walls. You can also place one behind you if you are in a fixed position, to cover your back so that the enemy don't sneak up on you from behind - eg if you're in a sniper perch.

Some people like 'em, some don't. Try it and see whether you do or not.
