I agree. Why should a user(aka customer) have to jump out of what was suppose to be a productive lesson and log in to the forum and search for the answer to what is on the screen? I am not giving up on RS but I give it at least on thumbs down for lack of a tutorial.

Getting into this website and forum is like getting into Fort Knox. How about directing some of those resources to making the game work and having a user guide. How about the screen keys in PS3 a tiny screen of an image with 15 numbers in a convoluted picture. If some of that energy was directed to the right spot wed have a video instruction on how to use the software. So far my rocksmith trip has been a colossal waste of time energy and money. Very disappointing. I had to ditch the pc version for a ps3 version and now how the hell do I figure out what I am seeing. Big thumbs down.
So basically someone take the effort to do a guide, and all you give him is a thumbs down ? Nice attitude, really… If you don’t know how to play one note, why don’t you have a look at the dozens available on Youtube to see how proficient people play these notes ? It seems you like to be fed with a silver spoon, but don’t you think you could also do your own research before ranting ? Rocksmith sure is a good tool to learn guitar, but that does not mean it has to be your only source of information.

SquirellyNinja, thanks for putting this up.

Here is a comprehensive guide of the notation and symbol used for techniques in Rocksmith 2014. A PDF will be going up on the main website soon, but here it is as a photo album online to be stickied in the meanwhile.

This applies to all versions of RS2014.
Thanks for putting this up - what do you call "the main website"? URL would be mucho handy because I'm hoping that would have the one thing that would be invaluable ... namely a manual - even PDF would do (PC version I'm using).

Sorry this is slightly off-topic because the title says XBox 360, but if I've gotta buy RS2014 on XBox to get a manual then I will. Had the original RS on there and only switched to PC because I could never hear what I was playing on the XBox, (which was good in a way because the family thought I was brilliant!).

You actually tried finding something useful RS2014 related on YT? Not the easiest and an exercise in frustration potentially. On the other hand, I'm going to second you on the "For shame" sent to The_Dman72 - SquirellyNinja is trying to help, so I'm going to praise him (or her?) for the effort.

Like The_Dman72 I'm also a complete guitar n00b - heck, didn't even have a "geetar" before I got the LPJ with the original Rocksmith pack - best book I've found has got to be the Dorling Kindersley one "How To Play Guitar Step By Step" (ISBN 978-1-4053-6033-3), and I've got a load of these books to compare. Problem might not be with expecting to be "spoon fed" but with some of the symbology used that's specific to RS2014. Not sure about the PS3 edition, but the advice I'd offer is to do those lessons multiple times - at least then you'll have seen the stuff used with an explanation!

Bug bear at the moment for me is Blur's "Song 2" - there's a bit where you're expected play A-11 and G-13 together and that's not clear until you study the fret stuff at the bottom of the screen carefully, (and end up missing a good few bars of the song). Even then though it seems to be a crap shoot for me at the moment whether I get it right or get the dreaded "MISS" appear on the screen. So I can appreciate the frustration that The_Dman72 might be feeling. And don't get me started on the issues I'm having with the guitarcade stuff!

Maybe we need a Rocksmith 2014 "n00bs" area?

Not sure if this'll be helpful, but there's a community written guide to the symbols used available on steam at http://steamcommunity.com/app/221680/guides, that link will take you to the community area of Steam and the one that's useful is "Ingame guitar notation / symbols" (which was the top one in the list when I checked).

Yep there are a lot of talented people out there that do videos with picture in picture so you can see how they play here are a few of them:
Brick235, cjee246, MrEevilways, Nick Smith, Nyarlah, Saidin550, UndeadKhaos just to name a few

I kind of agree the search engine of this forum sucks, sometimes I use google to find a topic that I know for sure exists but the forum search doesn’t return it :s But doing a search here is likely to return some results that may help you. Otherwise, don’t hesitate to create topics on these matters, we will try to help you

That's great, thanks for taking the time to post links - names would have done.

Oh and how come you aren't up there in the expert list ... modesty? Only kidding, thanks loads, I'm humble enough to take all and any help offered.

are you really that stupid? opinions are like *******s everyone has one and they all stink. If I wanted to spend all my time doing research I would have continued to get my law degree. unfortunately I have a job, and life my time isn't spent on you tube. If that's what I wanted to do, then why would I buy rocksmith. as you can see there is a consensus that finding manuals and information is near impossible.. So using your philosophy, I would have to get into my rocksmith on my ps3, then stop, go on the web, waste time watching clowns on you tube. then go back into the game, or I can have my lap top, and my ps3, then stop the game, go again to you tube and waste more time searching on you tube.. I am still not seeing the logic. yes its a well deserved thumbs down. this information should be in the manual and on the game. Following you, this would mean less time learning less time taking lessons, on basic guitar. but no lessons or information on how the program works, that support has to now post screens with explanations? and what, you expect me to follow some ******* on youtube who can be an idiot or can be a superior intelligence. But may make no sense at all. Not all people are good teachers or know how to explain things. So I have to sit through hours of research and hours of video for what? What good does that do me. Let me put it another way. ever get a used book for college, if you are that old. Ok so you get a used book that's underlined and highlighted. What makes you think that previous owner of that book had any clue what they were doing? But you would follow that, and not do it on your own. You have to trust that person knew what they are doing. well I give you youtube/ But again where and why should I have to get out of this program to do research on line? How I play the guitar, what I know or don't know, that's why I bought rocksmith.I didn't pay for another guitar, a ps3 and software to spend my time searching for more information and going through hundreds of youtube videos? I am still waiting to see where the logic is. Also before you throw stones out of your glass house, lets just look at the fact that their own support had to create files to explain the basic stuff. I youtube concert videos I don't youtube *******s and clowns that make their own videos and their own opinions. use the underline book analogy. think before you speak, read what other people are saying and look at the facts. Its software that is supposed to teach you how to play the guitar. If I wanted to use my guitar books and do research why would I want to pay for this game?. Take the silver sppon and shove it up your ***. My ranting has come after hours of research on how to play this game through the makers of this games website. That should be and is my only source of information on how to play the software. That's the point of buying the game. It has no relevance what proficiency someone else has. Lets say my job is doing technical work for an insurance company Ive done this for over 20 years, if I showed you a video of what I did, and you had no knowledge of that industry, what would be the point of me making a youtube video about it, and what would you get out of it? But this game and this website doesn't come with the caveat, that you don't use our game for a knowledge base, our software requires you to browse the internet for hours and hours just to learn how to navigate our game, does it?

Bluebob you may be right, maybe we need a site. People aren't seeing the fact that tech support had to post something useful after the fact and after so many people didn't understand. Last I knew a manual and instructions come with the program. We shouldn't have to spend hours and hours doing research as others have documented. The help is great but takes hours to come across it. maybe sh1kamaru is the zen master of rocksmith and has the hours and hours of time to spend watching you tube. I bought this program to actually use the program. I have guitar books and dvds on how to play, but this seemed like a great tool. I have guitar tab books but if I wanted to research and spend all my time doing all of that. Why would we buy the program. The fact it has lessons and information I don't deny. But in pages upon pages on steam and ubisoft people are looking for answers, and then there are useless notes from sh1kamaru for example. who apparently lives online, lives on you tube and offering mindless comments. But when you have to search for what screens mean and what is coming at you other than the string and fret number is like looking for the lost ark.I wouldn't use rocksmith if all I wanted to do was browse the internet and watching youtube videos Bluebob if you start that site sign me up.I bow down to sh1kamaruand that persons amazing outlook on this program and their superior rocksmith knowledge. And your analogy on the spoon fed is spot on and a worth while comment. you perfectly put it symbology. how that equates to spoon fed well, we have to look at the source that comment came from. Thanks for your comment and that I am not alone here in just looking for some simple info and trying to understand what I am seeing, and being shown what I will be seeing. the key word by the previous people also is that squirly is "trying" to help. Well it shouldn't take post upon post of people looking for that info, where its a basic part of the game and the most important part of the game. For shame to ubisoft for not having the resources inside the game, and for shame to people who say use the internet and youtube to research. If I did that for every game I owned to find info,. I would spend all my time researching and no time using the tools I bought to learn. symbology, the rocksmith word of the month! Good luck on your rocksmith future. maybe in the future there will be more tiny screen prints to find out how to play. But first get through the 5 sign ons and security codes
