I just heard on the news that North and South Korea exchanged gunfire in the DMZ just now.

First things first:

SHUT THE HELL UP. LITTLE KIDS LIKE YOU SHOULDNT GET INTO BIG KID ISSUES LIKE THIS.

Ok, that cleared up, it is true, indeed, shots have been exchanged along the 38th parallel. North korea fired 4 rounds at the south, and 17 rounds were fired back at the north. At this point it seems to be nothing more than an isolated incident. Things of this nature occur every now and then, every few months korean ships exchange fire in the yellow sea. This is nothing new, its just a bigger deal because of the current situation.

HOWEVER...it is now been said by Several intelligence services that the North Koreans can make up too 12 additional nuclear weapons over the next 4-6 months, in addition to the 2 or 3 they already posses. Also, US intelligence overflights picked up elements of Krypton 85, a byproduct of uranium encrichment, in the air over Yongbon, which is the plant believed to be used by the North Koreans for nuclear weapons. I think China, Japan, the US and Russia need to continue to work for diplomacy for a few more weeks, by if Kim JOng Il maintains his beligerent position of using a non-aggression treaty as blackmail to get additional foreign aid, then i think he needs to be dealt with forcfily. Honestly, they have 3 nukes...Our stealth bombers can take all 3 of them out, and their Nuclear sites and air defense systems before they even know what hit them. Should it come to military force, which i think becomes a more credible option every day Kim Jong Il Continues to be an ignoramous, then i feel pretty confident that US, Japanese, South Korean and European forces would have the N. Korean air defenses and nuclear sites destroyed in the first five minutes of war, and by using B-2's, they wouldnt have a clue. After the initial attacks however, N. Korean forces would probably charge accross the DMZ, at which point they would become SITTING DUCKS for A-10's, Apaches and B-52's.

I think over the next 2 weeks if diplomacy remains impossible, then i think LIMITED military strikes should be executed to destroy the N. Korean air defense and WMD facilities. But even a limited operation in that area has big potential to turn into a full blown war, none the less, i think a conventional war at the DMZ after N's nukes are taken out is far better than waiting and having nukes fall on Anchorage, Seattle and San Fransisco.

Thats just my fealing on the issue. Hopefully pressure from The US, Japan, Korea South, Russia, China and Europe will cause Kim JOng to wake up and realize how week he is, and stop making beligerent threats that will only end up with his demise.
