Zum_Zum told me he could use it online today and I can confirm it. When playing a rated game you have the option to enable the opening moves and the captured pieces, attaked pieces and what else there is. This should be fixed immidiatly! What's the idea if one considers himself an opening expert though the other just uses the chess coach to know what moves to play.

Actually Grim, Chessmaster 10000 has a horrible opening book. Most of its moves come from the database when playing against the Chessmaster itself, but the chess coach openings moves are very few. I've barely seen it (well on CM9000 anyway) go above 8 moves. While there are some old old programs that have huge opening books with 18 moves per opening! However, I haven't checked out CM 10000 opening book to see if it has improved.

I know about the book. The one in the CMX demo is 557 KB large and the one in CM9000 is 556 KB large. Though you gotta take into account that there's one big pile of different opening books, one for each personality. So I don't think it's awful in any way. Fischer's opening book in CM9000 was good, can anyone disagree against his opening repetoire?
ANyway it really doesn't matter if it's a good book or not. The fact that you can use it, plus the whole chess coach feature is bad so to say. Grandmasters might not care to see what pieces are under attack or if 1. f3 d5 2. g4 is standard book moves. But a chess newbie (that the game is focusing on) will find this precious and it is worse if his opponent doesn't use it. Then you can actually call it cheating.
And face it, we could all use this some time if not always. You say it isn't a very strong opening book though I am sure you would like to have checked the chess coach to see what to play against AlbertoGL's 5. Nbd2. Just the fact that you have the option to do so makes this quite a flaw in the game and should be fixed immidiatly.

Wait are you saying that it actually had a reply for 5. Nbd2?! If it did than I take it back, and yes the Chess coach feature should be abolished and that maybe it should be an unwritten rule not to use it. Maybe by just having a Fischer Random feature or something. Or maybe white can play 1. a3 to throw them off if they suspect cheating I don't know.
