Thread: Linksys Router Help | Forums

  1. #1
I've search through the forum for answers on how to host a game using a router. I was able to do it fine before the router was installed. I followed the linksys user manual on the ip forwarding technique and opened all the appropriate ports. Is there anyone who has had success with this kinda setup?

Yes, I've hosted through my LinkSys router following their instructions for IP forwarding to a fixed IP address, being the PC that I host on.

Unless you are C++ or microsoft certified tech, then setting up a linksys router to host is a nightmare. I gave up and just put my computer on DMZ then I DLed Zonealarm and it all works fine.

Several people have posted some step by step instructions, but I never bothered. If something ever went wrong I would be lost again trying to set it all back up. My way is simple and it is still secure.

    Good Luck!

My experience is the same as Cossack's...no problems joining or hosting after a simple entry to forward the approrpiate IP address, as per some basic instructions. Just mine own experience...

Here are the only things you need M8! Just go to this link Lynksys admin Your stock password is admin

Then find these two pages and make them match mine and you will be set. I haven't updated my drivers for the router in about six months so if you have your recently it may vary in looks just a tad.

I knew one of those Microsoft certified mamma jammas would come by eventually!

Anybody got the right ports and which check boxes to check for Ventrilo?

TOAD, I set all those settings to what you showed in the pictures. Yet I still am having problems hosting a game. Is there something i'm missing?
