It is absolutely neccessary to make sure you have NO applications running in the background. Just because you think you have no programs running in the background, doesn't mean that there aren't any. To figure out what programs you having running in the background, click start, click run, and type "msconfig" without the quotes.(NOTE: Windows 2000 does NOT support this function) You will see a couple of tabs on the top of the window. The only tab you want to use is the "Startup" tab. DO NOT do anything with the other tabs. In the "Startup" tab is a list of files that control certain programs running in your background. You must disable these files by unchecking them. These file names can be very confusing, so there is a website that has a very extensive list of all file names found in "msconfig". Go to MSCONFIG PROGRAM DICTIONARY and scroll down to the bottom until you see a section called, "THE PROGRAMS". Download the file called, "Full-list ZIP". Then open it up on your computer and look at the list of files, so you will know what those files do and if you should disable them or not. So what are you waiting for? Give it a try! You'll be surprised at what's running in there.

I tried doing everything stated above, and even went to the point of reformatting my system (mainly because I got a new HD and wanted to repartition my first one), but I still get the GPF. As of yet, I have not any programs installed that would boot on start-up.

Windows 2000
Motherboard: Elitegroup k7s5a
CPU: AMD athlon xp1800+
Memory: 512 MB PC2100 DDR
Video Card: MSI GeForce ti4200 128MB DDR
My sound and ethernet are both onboard the MoBo.
I currently have no PCI cards installed.

I have two harddrives, both 30 GB. The first is split into two partitions with ~9 GB for C:\ and ~20GBfor E:\
The second is unpartioned as D:\
All drives are formatted NTFS

Well, I did say it's a possible solution. Start a new thread and list your dxdiag.
