Thread: Video track & AVI record question ? | Forums

  1. #1
I finally found how to record a track and then make a Edit track and save it.

Now I want to save the movie track as an AVI.
What Codec I should use to record it to an AVI movie without having a huge AVI file ?

What is strange is that I have no sound with the AVI movie ! What i'm missing here ?

    In the Codec I have Microsoft MPEG4 V1 & V2 is that good ?

    Thanks

mpeg 4 is a very nice visual codec, but like anything that looks nice it will take up space,i would suggest a Divx pro codec 5.x.x,u can prob get it off the net and u have total control of the settings which increase its apperence...ive seen extremly BADLY coded files which have terrible quality..then i have seen near DVD quality with the same codec,so its all in the settings just mess around with them....

I used the Indeo video codec and it worked very good. It took about 4 hrs to create a 5min movie.

You need to go into your Volumn Control window (like when you double-click on the speaker icon in the systray, or in the Control Panel), select the Options menu, then Properties menu. click the 'Recording' radio button, then make sure the 'Wave Out Mix' checkbox is checked, and click Ok. Last, make sure the 'Select' checkbox is checked for the 'Wave Out Mix' device.

Basically, you have to select 'Wave' as your recording device.

skopro_PL, what do you mean with:
    -------
"i would suggest a Divx pro codec 5.x.x,u can prob get it off the net and u have total control of the settings which increase its apperence..."
    -------
Can i adjust the brightness and color of the DivX BEFORE i record the movie in the AVI-Tool?
That would be ideal because it would save me some major quality loss since i first record a movie to Mpeg4v3 (best quality) and later with the brightness/color settings to DivX.

I need to use the Mpeg4v3 codec because for some reason i can't use the 'Uncompressed AVI' option because it gives me a huge but corrupt avi file.

well my AVI files are still huge and if i use compression than it is not so nice...

When you make the AVI from LOMAC do you use a particular codec ? What quality % is used ?

I also DL DIVX 5.0.3 Pro and I also use it, so now what settings to use in DIVX Codec ?

    I have to say the i'm playing a 1024x768 and I resize the Video to 640 x 480

So far i'm not impressed by the final quality of the video if I compare to some videos I see so far.

Anyone can help ? Is Adobe Premiere good for video editing ? Is it hard to work with ?

    Thanks

450 megs for 5 min is way to high. Are you going to make that movie public?

Your just trying to get the best 'raw' avi output from Lomac you can. The AVI format is high grade video, with all the details, uncompressed.

FYI: If I remember correctly, when I used the default(the first one in the list I think), full Lomac output, it was about 4.5gig! I found, by trial and error that the Indeo video codec that was on my pc worked fine.
