    Common advice to use Splinter Cell Demo

    1 - Read the ReadMe included into the demo to verify the system requirement to play this demo : Start (Windows): Programs : Ubi Soft Entertainment : Splinter Cell demo : View Readme.

    2 - Update your system drivers : 3D card, sound card & monitor - Beware, latest drivers are not always the better. Note : this demo hasn't been tested with directX 9.0

    Our recommandations :

    - Nvidia GeForce 2-3-4 : 30.82 (default) ou 41.09(performance = application)
    - ATI Radeon : Catalyst 2.5 (6218 pour Win2000/XP) or more
    - Matrox Parhelia : 1.02.00.042
    - Or check : http://www.nvchips-fr.com for latest drivers

    3 - Make sure your desktop setting is set to True Color 32 bit (control panel/display/settings)

    I tried all this yesterday and it still doesn't cover the fault I've got

    General protection fault!

    History: RenderLevel <- FLevelSceneNode::Render <- FCameraSceneNode::Render <- UGameEngine:raw <- UWindowsViewport::Repaint <- UWindowsClient::Tick <- ClientTick <- UGameEngine::Tick <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop

    I'm on a Win XP
    1.5 Ghz P4
    64Mb Geforce 3
    latest nvida driver
    and I've tried it with both Direct X 8.1 and Direct X 9

    actually, none of these worked for me but i did find a solution that DID in fact work. [for me]

    heres what you do

    open up SplinterCellUser.ini in the /SYSTEM folder, find the line:

    Resolution=640x480
    [its all the way at the bottom, and a few lines up from that.]

    change it to

    Resolution=800x600

    and try to run the game, worked for me. also, if the game crashes you may need to change the file back to what it was in the first place. [Resolution=640x480] i also have to do this.

    This thread is important enough to post a link to it in the header but in the mean time, I'll keep bumping it.

    i have got the demo working, but when i try to run it with 4x anti-aliasing, white haze surrounds lights. you can also see this haze through walls.

    i'm not sure whether this is to do with splinter cell or my computer, because i have selected antialiasing from my graphics card menu in my desktop properties to always be used.

    if anyone has a solution or anything for this then i would be very grateful

    All I have to say is the demo runs fine more me but Ubi-Soft better fix all these problems other people are having before they release the game on January 21.Editing ini. files parameters is asking just a little to much of the average person to get the demo to work with their system.
