    In some versions of the IL-2, the gunsight sits directly in front of the compass. Is there any way to see the compass?

    Are you sure thats a compass? and not just the lens of the reflector gunsight?

    Powvey is right,

    Some of the early IL2s do have a bombsight in front of the compass and you cannot move the bombsight.

    If you are using the speedbar you can still navigate with the bearing readout.

    But - I got stuck in one the other day on a full real server - which means your only navigation tool is the sun and the clock.
