Security update regarding your Ubisoft account - please create a new password
We recently found that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorised access to some of our online systems. We instantly took steps to close off this access, to begin a thorough investigation with relevant authorities, internal and external security experts, and to start restoring the integrity of any compromised systems.
During this process, we learned that data were illegally accessed from our account database, including user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords. No personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, meaning your debit/credit card information was safe from this intrusion.
As a result, we are recommending you to change your password by clicking this link.
Out of an abundance of caution, we also recommend that you change your password on any other Web site or service where you use the same or a similar password.
Additional information can be found here and an official forum thread -- http://forums.ubi.com/forumdisplay.p...a-new-password -- has been created for you to post your questions.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding
The Ubisoft team
This is pretty serious, thanks for being up front about it. Can you share details on how the passwords were encrypted? Which algorithm were they stored in, were they salted? I'd like that information so I can get a sense of how serious this is, as it affects my other online accounts.
I would love to change my password but when i log on the website and try to edit my account, I got:
PAGE UNDER MAINTENANCE !
This page is currently under maintenance.
Please come back later.

I second that question. I'd also like to know what steps are taken to prevent such maters in the future.
As a sidenote. It does explain why I got a spam email with my real name in it.

And for future reference, I will never buy nor play another Uplay enabled Ubisoft game on Xbox that requires me to make another account on here. You had one job, keep my account information safe!
Congrats UBISOFT for making me change all my passwords for everything I use. Bank, Credit Cards, Email, Utilities, Cell Phone, College. How about some compensation! Your ignorance leads to unnecessary burdens on your users. This bit of having accounts compromised has grown old. No body learned anything from Sony. The Uplay thing is junk and there's no reason for it. Played hawx back in 2006 forget I even had a UBISOFT account. Didn't realize you guys even existed anymore.

How do I go about deleting my Ubisoft account entirely? The "Edit" feature just redirects to the password reset over and over again whether you reset it or not.
