    *IMPORTANT UPDATE* FAQ Heroes VI patch 2.1.0

    Update 11/05- We continue to regularly update our servers, so those who have just activated their keys can access the game. All fixes will be effective in a few hours (24h maximum). If you have activated the game before the 09/05 and you still can’t access to your content, please contact our support.

    Those with black screen issues, please send your DxDiag report to Technical Support.

    If you pre-ordered Heroes VI Shades of Darkness and you didn’t receive your key to access your bonuses, please read below:

    - For Steam users, your pre-order key is available in your Steam library. Select Heroes VI, on the right you will find a menu called “Links”, please find your keys in the “CD Key” link.
    - For Uplay users, if you did not receive your pre-order key by email, please contact us.


    Update 09/05- Content should now be unlocked but if you are still having issues please ensure you are ONLINE you need to connect at least once in order to unlock content / privileges.

    Those still with key issues please contact Technical Support.

    There is still an issue with the Russian audio on Steam which will be fixed on Friday. (Fixed please restart your Steam platform and launch the game in order to apply new patch.)

    If you are having an issue selecting any/some factions on custom play;

    Two solutions:
    - Unlock a free hero for each faction on the Altar of Wishes (“shop” available on the top right hand corner of main menu)
    - Create your own hero by selecting “my dynasty” in main menu, clicking on the second tab (at the bottom) and on big “+” on top left.

    The black screen issues have been reported.

    Please note: city/town issues should be fixed with the patch if not please contact Technical Support.
    Entering a battle black screen has been reported but please contact Technical Support.


    Update 07/05- Hello Heroes, first we deeply apologize for the inconveniences.

    Maintenance is now complete. We have fixed the authorization issues for every specific version of the game. Your content is now unlocked, so please reboot the game in order to apply the modifications.

    We continue to regularly update our servers, so those who have just activated their keys can access the game. All fixes will be effective in a few hours (24h maximum).

    Concerning the specific case of the Russian users, authorizations’ update will also be over in a few hours.


    Update 06/05- We are aware many people still can’t access their game content and we first wish to apologize.

    We’ve been working on your feedback over the weekend, and we continue to work on fixing all issues. Here is an overview of the current situation:

    - Inaccessible content (campaigns, multiplayer maps, pre-order bonuses etc.) or already in use keys: We are currently working on giving back authorizations to everybody; maintenance will be performed today and the following ones in order to gradually set everything back to normal.

    - Difficulties with 2.1.0 patch installation: A complete guide for 2.1 patch installation is available here: See * below.

    - “Shades of Darkness is not installed” message when trying to patch the game: if your game is on the 1.8 version and you can’t install the 2.1 patch because of this previous message, you might have downloaded the wrong patch. Indeed, you need to properly differentiate Digital and Retail patch links. If you have downloaded & installed your game from a UPlay digital installer or from a non-Steam digital retailer, you have to download the Digital one. If you have installed your game from disc, you need to install the Retail patch. If you continue getting this error, please contact us.

    - Steam version still showing 1.8 version for some users: Some Steam version owners are still on the 1.8 version (you can check your version on the bottom right hand corner of the game’s main menu). However, autopatch is correctly working on this platform and this issue is only a display bug. To fix this you need to follow this procedure: delete the Installscript.vdf file on the Heroes VI install folder, per default: X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Might and Magic Heroes VI. DO NOT erase any other file! On Steam, right click on Heroes VI game in your “library”, go to “properties”, “local files” tab and click on “verify game integrity”. After this, your game will be on the 2.1 version.

    - If you bought the original game (Heroes VI) from Steam and Shades of Darkness from another platform/retail (or the other way around), we deeply apologize but you will not be able to merge those two versions. However, you will of course be able to play each game on their dedicated platform.

    - Pre-order bonuses, Complete, Deluxe & Gold editions extras can be unlocked ingame through “unlock content” menu, you just have to enter your bonus key through any unlock button.

    We are aware that some users are experiencing difficulties with the auto patching system. In order to fix this issue, we strongly recommend that you follow the steps below:

    How to update your game (all versions) to the 2.1.0 version:

    Uplay version:
    - Launch Uplay and open “My Games” section
    - On the list, click on Heroes VI shortcut (this one can be a Shades of Darkness icon or a Heroes VI standard one, but it is the same game)
    - Confirm that you are using a 1.8.0 version (Heroes VI: Standard, Deluxe & Gold editions) or 2.0.0 (Complete Edition, Shades of Darkness standalone) in the lower right corner and then exit the game.

    o If not, you need to launch the game several times, until this one is updated to the correct version
    - Download and install the 2.1 patch directly from these links, be careful to select the appropriate one regarding to your version:

    Please note: the DIGITAL English/French/Italian/German/Spain also includes PL + CZE + HUN + KOR languages and the already existing links on the topic for those countries only is for retail version.

    - Launch the game; you will be on the 2.1.0 version.

    If you receive a “Shades of Darkness is not installed” message when trying to update, please follow this procedure:
    “Shades of Darkness is not installed” message when trying to patch the game: if your game is on the 1.8 version and you can’t install the 2.1 patch because of this previous message, you might have downloaded the wrong patch. Indeed, be careful between Digital and Retail patch links. If you have downloaded & installed your game from a digital installer you got from Uplay or from a non-Steam digital retailer, you have to download the Digital one. If you have installed your game from disc, you need to install the Retail patch. If you continue getting this error, please contact us.

    Steam version:
    - Auto patching is working fine on Steam platform, just launch the game and you will be on the 2.1 version (you can check it on the main menu at the bottom right hand corner of the game).

    o If your game still shows 1.8.0 at the bottom right hand corner of the menu, please follow this procedure:
    To fix this you need to follow this procedure: delete the Installscript.vdf file on the Heroes VI install folder, per default: X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Might and Magic Heroes VI, do not erase any other file! On Steam, right click on Heroes VI game in your “library”, go to “properties”, “local files” tab and click on “verify game integrity”. After this, your game will be on the 2.1 version.

    How to unlock contents
    - Launch the game and select “Unlock content” on the main menu
    - Click on the “Unlock” button at the bottom of the screen (or any other)
    - Enter your key and press “Accept” button.
    - Your content is now unlocked

    If you content is unavailable (locked campaigns, multiplayer maps, pre-order bonuses etc.) or your keys appeared to be already in use:
    We are currently working on giving back authorizations to everybody; maintenance will be expected in the following days in order to gradually correct those issues.
    Be careful, if you bought the original game from Steam and Shades of Darkness from another platform/retail (or the other way around), we deeply apologize but you will not be able to merge those versions. Of course you will be able to play each game on their dedicated platform.
