I just thought I'd ask you all how you feel about this. It could become a lively discussion (even though I'm sure we've had our share of beating this subject to the ground at times).
Anyhow, I recently saw the trailer of "Call of Duty" (for those that do not know, it is a video game based on WW2).
Do you think it is right to base a game on a war which was a terrible situation for people from all over the world?
I'm not quite sure what side I'm on, but I do believe that I wouldn't feel any convictions of wrong-doing by playing the game as long as it is done with taste. What I don't like about the idea of playing a game like this, is the immature players. The L33T ones that make fun of people and screw up the gaming experience. I suppose they have always been a problem with gaming communities, but I think they would totally anger me if they take a game based on a serious situation lightly as they would with other games. But at the same time, it is a game, so why not have fun?
I personally believe that just like watching WW2 movies (entertainment) and playing video games tastefully based on WW2 (another form of entertainment), you want to feel the experience to better remember the soldiers' sacrifices and courage.
And on the same token, I personally would not know how I would feel if someone made a video game about firefighters going into the world trade center, or a game based on being a person trying to escape from the world trade center for purposes of rememberance through entertainment.
But on another note , 9-11 is not a "time period" or a long drawn out conflict between many nations (maybe in a smaller sense), but it all happened in one day; one fateful, tragic event.
World War 2 was not a "tragic event" per se, because it was a time of war for everyone. It also had it's good come out of it - liberation, economic freedom, technological advancements, and it's cause was just. 9-11 was just a tragic day in history. Perhaps the war on terror is what has become from that event, but the war on terror though related, is still an effect of a disaster. World War 2 was a conflict between good and evil that lasted years; though tragically a lot have lost their lives, but for a just cause.
There is a lot more I'd probably say but I think I may have said too much already (I apparently complicate things too much).
What do you believe?

Also just for the record, I'm not saying that no one is correct for not believing what I believe (if that is the case), but I am just saying what I feel. I am very open for discussion on this issue (with the exception that my next post may be on monday )
And I'm not trying to downplay 9-11, or up-play it... it is what it is...

You spelled story wrong in your sig, hehe, unless for buildings it's spelled differently..
