Game Launcher Not Found // A more recent version of the Game Launcher detected

After installing Farcry 3 I was notified that the Uplay Game Launcher was not found so after some google searching for an answer, I was prompted to go to the support folder and install it from there. When I tried running the application, I was informed that "a more recent version of the Game Launcher was detected" and that the installation would abort.

This seemed odd to me so I checked my Add/Remove program tool in the control panel and did not find anything there related to Ubisoft or Uplay. In any case, I validated the files via steam and when that didn't work, I uninstallled it and went through my registry with Regedit to delete any instance of ubisoft/uplay/farcry in my registry.

Any and all subsequent installs of Farcry 3 leads me to the same Game Launcher Not Found + More recent version detected loop with no real hope for progress.

    TLDR:
I can't uninstall uplay to reinstall it because it simply does not exist on my computer. Without having uplay, I cannot run the game.

    I have tried the following:
    -Steam Revalidate
    -Steam uninstall/reinstall
    -Download uplay from ubi.com
-Attempt to install from the support folder of Farcry 3
-Attempt to install uplay from a static link posted in these forums
-Complete registry clean of anything related to ubisoft, uplay, and farcry

uplay not detected in my add/remove programs tool: http://i46.tinypic.com/rjr2h0.jpg

Any help would be appreciated because I'm at my wit's end and I'm feeling like I've thrown fifty bucks into the toilet.

To resolve this issue, you will need to manually install the GameLauncher software, which handles the online authentication in the game. Please note that this software MUST be installed to play the game, and cannot be uninstalled or disabled.

    1. First, you will need to uninstall the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" software from the 'Add/Remove Programs' (Windows XP) / 'Installed Programs' (Windows Vista and 7) icon in your computer's control panel. It's possible that the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" software will not be listed if you have already uninstalled it, or the game. If so, you can skip this step.

    2. After uninstalling the software, you will need to manually delete any leftover files in the C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (32-bit versions of Windows) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (64-bit versions of Windows). Please do not skip this step, it is very important. If this folder does not exist, please go to the next step.

    3. Reinstall the GameLauncher software from: http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/lau...rInstaller.exe. Once installed, you should be able to start the game!

You could swear you never even read his post! I have this problem too and there is no trace whatsoever of the launcher on the computer besides the installer. But the installer claims that there is already a copy installed, although there isn't.

Not appearing in my add/remove programs panel as shown in my post:

As stated above, I did do that:
I uninstallled it and went through my registry with Regedit to delete any instance of ubisoft/uplay/farcry in my registry.

    3. Reinstall the GameLauncher software from: http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/lau...rInstaller.exe. Once installed, you should be able to start the game!
And I did that as well and mentioned it above:
-Attempt to install uplay from a static link posted in these forums

It's painfully obvious that you have not read my post at all and instead have posted a pre-written response that you refer to people having problems with your game launcher. It's been four days since I've tried to get this game to run and I've made no progress at all. I assumed that by posting pictures of the error dialogues and every step I've made that maybe someone might understand what it is I am having an issue with but it appears I have been mistaken. Aside from dealing with draconian DRM present on PC games despite being on a non-intrusive DRM platform such as Steam, it is now apparent that their staff is apathetic to customer concerns and I will no longer be purchasing ubisoft products for the PC again.

i have the exact same problem only witch anno2070. Tryed also all o the things. but there was no Regestry of ubisoft game launcher anywhere...

when i want to install it from D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Anno 2070\install it just crashes without any error what so ever. this drm is just annoying paying customers

    edit:
i solved the problem witch revo uninstaller pro (trial) -> Forced uninstall -> programm name = ubisoft -> scanning mode Advanced.

it found several regestry entrys to ubisoft game luncher, and they where directed to C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher wich not existed oO. whatever after i deleted them i could finaly install the luncher.
