    Cant install Assassins Creed 3

so today i received my second copy of assassins creed 3 this time on PC as i didn't like the Xbox copy. frame rate way to low for my liking.

So anyway i tried to install i and for what ever reason i keep getting the following error message:

    Error Code: -5012 : 0x8000ffff
    Error Information:
    >Kernel\ObjectWrapper.cpp (498)
    >Kernel\ObjectWrapper.cpp (311)
    >Kernel\IScriptWrapper.cpp (80)
    >Kernel\ObjectWrapper.cpp (197)
    >Kernel\IScriptWrapper.cpp (80)
    >SetupNew\setup.cpp (672)

    $15.0.0.498
    @Windows Vista Service Pack 0 (9200)
    IE Version: 9.10.9200.16433

I've been trying to resolve the issue myself for most of the day by looking for answers on the internet, but found very little information. the only help i got was to clean my registry. but that didn't resolve the issue.

    I'm running on Windows 8
Graphics Card: HD 7970 Black edition
    Processor: Intel Core I5 2500k
    Ram: 8Gb Corsair Vengeance

When trying the Microsoft Fix It tool, it doesn't seem to work with window's 8. "This Microsoft Fix it does not apply to your operating system or application version."

And nothing on the other link seems to have helped. really not sure what else i can do here other than returning the item, and wait for steam to release it.

It's looks like i may have finally got it to work. by partially installing the game i found that by trying to launch it, take you to Uplay software, and then allows you to unlock it on your account. and i'm now trying to install it digitally.

Ubisoft really need to put in a feature like steam, where by you can put in the CD-key of the game and download it, instead of trying to install it from the disk. that would have made matters so much easier, especially considering i don't usually have my CD drive plugged in these days, as it never get's used. this has to be the first physical copy of a game i've bought in years, but only because it's not available on steam.
