You get them on the first propper night level.
1-2 more levels to go (as far as i can recall, been a while)
About those goggles, is that just my Radeon 9600XT, or settings below very high that the image the goggles produce is not what I would expect?
If you saw the technology demo, it was way better there IMO. Now, the heatvision part is too pixellated and the colors are strange, purple and all.
I've noticed that, when set on very high (I believe it's the Special Effects setting) the CryVision does look pretty cheesy, but I've noticed that if you lower the settings it's even worse. For exapmple, there's one setting where people/trigens are just glowing against a b&w-ish background, so they're almost impossible to see, and if you're all the way on low, everything is multicolored, which makes people easier to see, but it's pretty hard on the eyes...

I have the exact same problem. My CryVision would not display colored heat blobs as it did before when I upgraded my videocard. At first I thought that it's a corruption problem, but then I figured it out - HDR!
FarCry's bugful HDR implementation not only causes total corruption when used together with antialiasing, but also disables heat display in CryVision.
I took a couple screenshots:
\r_hdrrendering 0 (disabled)
\r_hdrrendering 7 (enabled)
As a matter of fact, FarCry crashed while writing the second screenshot - for no particular reason. Stay away from HDR.
P.S.I'm running FarCry 1.32 AMD64 on Athlon64 3000+, 1GB DDR400, video: XFX GeForce 7900GT (256mb), sound: Sound Blaster Audigy 2. All settings on "Very High".
Hey fragmer:
The 1.32 patch does not work right. Uninstall it using that patch installer and use only 1.3 for SP and additional 1.31 and 1.33 for MP.
Well, 1.32 is the only AMD64 version out there. I think the higher res textures and displacement mapping outweighs lack of HDR.
So, unless there a way to get 1.3 in 64 bit flavor...
