Yes, we're reading this forum too, so don't post tech questions in the other one thinking no one will see it here. There are a number of people who browse the forums regularly and have already become experts (of a sort) on getting the demo to run properly, and have seen the same questions again and again.
Ask away, we're here to help.

When I try to start up Far Cry demo, a windows appears but then another comes up called 'Critical Exception', and needless to say, things don't go much further. :-(
The description says:
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Attempt to read from address 0x000000000
The memory could not be "read"
Running on a Geforce Ti 4200 with 43.45 drivers and DX9.0b installed.

Niallmc, I've read several times that there's a corrupt version of the demo out there and they were able to get rid of this error by re-downloading the file from a different server.
Also, before you do, realize that Far Cry REQUIRES the 53.03 drivers and doesn't usually run properly without them. I had probs, and then after downloading the 53.03's, everything was fine. I'd do that first, to be sure it's not a driver prob.
If you still get the bug, I'd look at acquiring it from a different site and reinstalling.

Thanks for the advice, but I did have the demo working fine the day before so download must have been ok, and 43.45 drivers seemed fine then!

When i try to do the reflections/buggy/shrk fix (i.e. the one in which you have to unpack the game.paks with an unzipper) i cant seem to get to the contents, i unzipp it to a folder but there is nothing in it.
This is very annoying, please utilise your extensive knowledge to solve this prob
thank v mucho
