Its not too bad - whatever they did would get repetitive after a while, plus it is better than dying for straying too far out - I can live with that, why go swimming far out when the action is in the opposite direction, if they did something really cool then everyone would be going to the edge of the playable zone - I think it is fair enough - might seem dull to some but that would make you not want to do it over and over again.

Jason could have awaken from a dream or hallucination at the nearest safehouse. Of course a warning + timer is necessary.

I liked the Far Cry 2 approach of your screen blurring until you collapse; I think a timer in singleplayer is quite ridiculous... But well, FC3 clearly doesn't have as much immersion in its targets as FC2 did.
