    Please no quick scoping.

I was feeling old school the last few weeks and put in cod mw2 to see if i could still slay a bit, turned out i couldn't. One of the things that annoyed me is all the mother F%@*&^% quick scoping. In each match i found that least 4-6 people were doing it , i understand it takes a different type of skill to pull it off but less skill than it takes to actually get the target in scope. I like hope BF3 nipped this issue in the bud with physics + bullet trajectory. i'm gonna try out black ops today and see if thats plagued with the same annoying' glitching ,short cut using knuckle heads. Maybe im just an old dude ranting but in my opinion it could ruin gameplay experiences for the rest of us what do you think ?

100% agree with you when i host on fc2 i see players jumping up and down and quickscoping (you know like an sas sniper does in real life sas are renowned for jumping and quick scoping when on ops) UBI dont allow this in FC3

Yeah. I mean, like you said, it takes some amount of skill, but it's not skilled as sniping. And I hate it when people say they're "snipers", when in reality, they're 12 year-olds jumping around like rabbits on crack pulling off their "360 Ski11z Sh0tz" B.S. (A.K.A, quickscopers.) And when you hear a pre-pubescent voice some through the speakers... "QUIT LONGSCOPING ME, BEEATCH!!".......... "~" I don't want to live in this planet anymore... Long story short, it sucks. Lol, don't let it happen!

There's probably another solution other than removing it altogether, like adding vision blur / eye adjustment effects to scoping.
I don't play COD so idk what the quick scoping is really like. Allz I know is I enjoyed looking down the sights of a gun in Fallout New Vegas.

Quickscoping itself isn't the problem. I see people attempt to quickscope in MW2 often, this has been happening quite a bit in the past year. The key word is attempt, though. I'll admit I am well above average so maybe it's just me but whenever I enter a lobby full of quickscoping they quickly switch to a rifle or smg. Of course that doesn't help them but... whatever. The point is a lot of people attempt it so there is an inherent fun to it. To completely stamp it out is to dismiss a legit and very different play style that offers variety to a game.

Treyarch tried to curb it by making your scope zoom in at a random spot and sway about before centering. As if this wasn't bad enough it also didn't count as being zoomed in until a couple of seconds after actually being zoomed in. So not only did they get rid of noob quick scoping that relied entirely on aim assist but even if you fought the scope to center on the enemy it still wouldn't register the hit unless you looked down the scope for a couple of seconds. This was a stupid extreme that threw the baby out with the bath water. In response MW3 went to the other extreme by what seems like making the hit box four times bigger when scoping in with a sniper rifle. MW2 being the better balance.

Anybody who knew what they were talking about kept suggesting that they just get rid of aim assist which is supposedly what Treyarch is doing for Black Ops 2.

If Far cry 3 can stand apart from games like COD in this way that would be great.

One of the things that bothered me about COD was that if you threw a grenade and died before it was due to detonate your grenade just disappeared and died with you.

I hope that grenades stay live if you are killed before they are due to go off.

I do not have a problem with C4 and proximity mines being taken away but grenades should stay in play until they go off because in reality once you pull the pin it is going to EXPLODE!!!

Far Cry invented having to hold your breath for a steady aim.... Far Cry Rules when it comes to sniping what FPS has not stolen this idea today.

Quickscoping should not be possible if the game stay true to its roots you try jumpng up and down with a sniper rifle and holding your breath you will die first of suffocation

Not only the mechanics but the sound and feel were correct too... The sound of the dial when you zoomed in and out... The gasp before you took aim and the crack of the bullet echoing around the wide expanse of the environment.

You know where you are? ... Your in the jungle baby...... Your gonna die.....

    A good First-person Shooter should:

    - have precise, manual controls - e.g. no auto-aim
    - put balance, challenge and fun above realism
    - be full of fast-paced real-time action
    - let cunning, intelligence and skill decide who wins (PvP)
    - have simple mechanics: easy to learn but difficult to master

Sorry to dig up this thread.

Quickscoping isn't the problem, the aim assist is. The simplest and most fair solution is remove all aim assist for 2 seconds after you scope in. This allows really skilled players tosstill use the gun but destroys the current pro method of crappy internet, crouch jumping and randomly quick scoping hoping that the extrapolating lag keeps you alive ling enough for the aim assist to find a target.

That is exactly my point you have to hold your breath to aim steadily otherwise your aim is er a bit wobbly.... Did you ever play the original game?

i.e. the aim was wobbly when you held your breath it was steady if you could not get a shot off before he could not hold his breath any longer then you had to wait a bit and then try again.... or chance your luck with a wobbly aim.....Totally unassisted
