I've been playing the demo for awhile now, although over all I really enjoy it; there is one thing that really bothers me:
Whats the point of having silenced weapons in this game (at least in the demo) if enemy movement is scripted and you can't change your teams rules of engagment.
Sometimes I just leave my team behind (cause if you take them with you they shoot at anything that moves) and creep up behind afew baddies and hit them with a silenced weapon.....but then OOPS! I hit the invisible trip wire that starts an obscene fire fight script, cover blown. Gone is the ultimate pleasure of rainbow six; sneaking an entire 8 man team into a building without raising one alarm, quietly taking down tangos as you go. Fire Fights only happen when you screw up.
what happend to RULES OF ENGAGMENT!? Assualt, Recon and Infiltrate. "Dietter you idiot hold your fire!!" Theres a voice command that should have been added.
What happend to patroling enemies? Free roaming AI after the first shots where fired? Whats with these scripted enemie events. No matter how I travel down that sewer tunnel, I can always bet, sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, that those two jerks are going to come barreling up the tunnel and that one hambone is going to make a bolt for the left passage. wt(ph)!? you can creep up, walk up, or bull rush in...and everytime they do the same stupid thing.
You can play a mission in the PC version multiple times, and everytime the enemies will do completely different things. Its never the same mission. The action in the xb version reminds me of MOH....script city. Just run throught the mission afew times....memorize what the enemies do after you hit the trigger, position your team accordingly.
I hope all the missions in the full version aren't going to be as linear and predictible.

I guess we won't find out if this is the case until the game actually ships. None of the previews really mention the linearity of the single player gameplay. Even if SP is kind of linear, the multiplay should dominate if you're on LIVE.

Yea, your right Dusty. Im just spoiled by the control and randomness of the pc version.
There's no doubt about it. the game will rock online. Just as good as the pc version. all the elements are there.

ugh yeah i hate the scripted sequences in this game and in any game for that matter.
but surely they included live for a reason...its gonna rock.
