Far Cry2; Desktop not 32 bit

Good day from South Africa. I bought my husband Far Cry 2 and I cant get it to play, at first it just gave me an off screen showing on my tv that signal is lost. I changed the properties of the game to 256 colors so that I could read the error message. It says that my desktop is not set to 32 bit? I clicked on the properties for my desktop and it is 32bit. How can I resolve this problem? It is windows xp 32 bit with Nvidia 8800GTS. The strangest thing is that he played Far Cry 1 with no problems on this computer. I also uninstalled and reinstalled twice with no change.

    Thanks for any advice.

Oh sorry, I thought that was where I posted this.

    Found the solution:
It was a bundle pack, Far Cry and Far Cry2 that we bought and I only installed Far Cry2 because we already had no1 and I did not want it again. Last night out of desperation I decided to install the Far Cry 1 disk to see if it will play and after installing I by accident double clicked the Far Cry2 icon and it immediately played!?? It is very frustrating that they had the settings on the first disk and that it wasn't printed anywhere that both games should be installed. Never mind the fact that the error message had nothing to do with the problem. Wasted a whole day for nothing.

What is most strange is that neither disk asked me for the serial number? These games were bought at a big brand store called Hifi Corporation.
